"Best performance in an Arsenal shirt", "Growing with every game" - Arsenal fans laud superstar's performance in 6-0 drubbing of Lens

Arsenal fans have lauded Kai Havertz for yet another brilliant display in his side's 6-0 thrashing of Lens in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday (November 29).

Havertz came into tonight's game off the back of scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory against Brentford on the weekend. He'd also earned plaudits during the recent international break, playing as a makeshift left-back for Germany.

The 24-year-old played in midfield against Lens, a position handed to him by Mikel Arteta since joining from Chelsea in the summer. He flourished, opening the scoring in the 13th minute with a fine finish.

Havertz also made two key passes and won three of four aerial duals in a showing that has many Gunners fans enthused. He's now scored three goals and provided one assist in 21 games across competitions.

Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Jorginho (P) were also on the scoresheet for Arsenal. It was an excellent attacking display from Arteta's men that saw them win Group B.

Havertz's performance didn't go under the radar as fans were quick to wax lyrical about the Germany international on social media. One fan hailed it as his best to date:

"Havertz best performance in an Arsenal shirt 100%."

Another fan is enjoying seeing the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker's growth:

"What a win, it’s like we never left the Champions League. Amazing to see Havertz improving, he’s growing with every game."

Here's how fans on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to Havertz continuing his upturn in form:

Chris Sutton praises Gabriel Jesus after his goal in Arsenal's win over Lens

Jesus also enjoyed a fine performance against Lens, scoring the Gunners' second goal on the night. He struck home from inside the box to pull his side two in front.

The Brazilian took his tally for the season to five goals in 13 games across competitions. There have been question marks over his finishing but he came to the fore at the Emirates tonight.

Chris Sutton was full of praise for Jesus when reacting to his goal. The Premier League legend said (via TBRFootball):

"It’s a brilliant finish from Jesus, it really is. He’s often criticised for his finishing."

Jesus admitted recently that goalscoring wasn't the strongest part of his game. But, he is an important asset to Arteta's frontline, often bringing others into play with his impressive hold-up play.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry named him as the one current Gunners player he'd like to have played with:

"I would have loved to have played with him. He's a great guy to have around. If you ask anyone they would say they would have liked to have played with him."

Jesus has now scored four goals in five Champions League outings this season. He has managed 95 goals and 46 assists since arriving at Arsenal from Manchester City in July 2022.
