"Black player is sent off but white, NO!" - Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr's agent says even VAR is racist in La Liga
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior's agent Frederico Pena has accused La Liga of racial bias, stating that even the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system is racist.
The agent's comments came after Vinicius was subjected to racial abuse and was sent off after a conflict during a recent match against Valencia at Mestalla Stadium.
His manager posted a picture of Vinicus being choked by a Valencia player, yet he was sent off. The photo captioned:
“Black player is sent off but white NO! In Spain, even VAR is racist.”
The match, which had to be temporarily halted due to the abuse directed at the Brazilian player, resumed after a short delay. However, it ended with Vinicius being sent off in stoppage time, contributing to Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat. Expressing his frustration, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti strongly condemned the lack of action against continuous racial abuse.
According to reports from The Athletic, an announcement was made over the stadium's loudspeaker, warning that racist behavior would not be tolerated. However, Vinicius took to Twitter to express his discontent, saying this wasn't the first, second, or third time.
Racism is normalized in La Liga as per the player. He also added that the competition, the Spanish Football Federation, and even Madrid's opponents take no actions to put a stop to this barbaric behaviour.
This was not the first time the 22-year-old Brazilian had faced racial slurs during an away game. Previously incidents against Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Mallorca, and other Spanish teams have also occurred. Despite numerous complaints from the club, former players, and football stars worldwide, Spanish football authorities have failed to take decisive action against the perpetrators.
Pena's accusation that VAR is biased suggests a systemic problem within La Liga. With racism continuing to plague the league, it raises concerns about the effectiveness of measures taken to combat such behavior.
BeIN sports reporter alleges conspiracy to oust Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr from La Liga after Valencia fans racially abused him
In a surprising accusation, a BeIN Sports reporter has claimed that there is a concerted effort to push Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior out of La Liga.
Expressing concern over the treatment of the Real Madrid forward, the reporter voiced doubts about the league's commitment to protect him. According to the reporter's analysis, which they acknowledged could be flawed, there seems to be a deliberate campaign against Vinicius Jr.
The reporter said:
“I don’t like the campaign against Viní Jr. They are not protecting him. From my point of view, and my analysis could be wrong, but there is someone who wants to kick Viní Jr out of La Liga.”
While it remains unclear who might be behind this alleged campaign, the reporter's statement highlights the need for further investigation and action to ensure players' safety and fair treatment in La Liga.
Vinicius has been brilliant in front of goal this season. He has scored 23 times and laid out 21 assists in 54 games for Los Blancos. Aged only 22, the young Brazilian winger has the potential to become a Ballon d'Or winner, given his lofty career graph so far.
On a personal note, regardless of a player's performance, it is sad to watch the beautiful game of football besmirched by such hateful actions of racist behaviour. The football community represents equality and freedom for all, and we at Sportskeeda stand firmly with Vinicius and every other victim of racial abuse around the world.
