Borussia Dortmund star’s girlfriend quickly deletes Instagram post supporting him after a hilarious error

Borussia Dortmund star Yan Couto's girlfriend Mariana David deleted an Instagram post soon after fans spotted a hilarious mistake. Mariana had shared a message on her Instagram story after the 22-year-old made his Champions League debut earlier this week.

Couto, who is on loan at the Signal Iduna Park from Manchester City, was introduced from the bench in the 87th minute against Belgian side Club Brugge on Wednesday (September 18). Couto's partner Mariana took to Instagram to congratulate him on making his Champions League debut using an image. She wrote:

"Even from afar, I'm always keeping my fingers crossed for you."

However, it was soon spotted by a Borussia Dortmund fan on X (formerly Twitter) that she had used a picture from a video game rather than an actual snap from the game. Couto himself posted the same image on his Instagram account after the game.

While the picture seemed too realistic to be from a video game, Mariana eventually deleted her post. Borussia Dortmund won the game 3-0, with former Manchester City youth graduate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scoring a brace and Serhou Guirassy scoring another.

Yan Couto joined Manchester City from Coritiba in 2020 but has yet to make a single appearance for the Cityzens. He has spent three successful seasons on loan at Girona and one at SC Braga.

Following his exploits for Girona last season, he was snapped up by Borussia Dortmund on loan this season. The 22-year-old, who has earned four caps for Brazil so far, has been tipped for a bright future by many.

Carlo Ancelotti opens up on former Borussia Dortmund star's exceptional debut season at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that everyone was surprised by Jude Bellingham's exceptional start to life at the club. The England international enjoyed a phenomenal debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu following his €103 million switch from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

Ancelotti hailed the 21-year-old for his impact at the Spanish capital club in his debut campaign. The Real Madrid manager said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra:

“Jude Bellingham's growth since he joined? I think Jude surprised everyone last season in the beginning and now he's doing really well, he's really mature, he takes more responsibility in the squad, he's a really important player for us. I think he'll do the same for us this season like last season."

The former Chelsea and AC Milan manager added:

“Expecting Jude to achieve more in his 2nd season? I think so, he has a lot of quality in every sense, he has a really strong character, he's a really important player in the squad not only for what he does on the pitch but also in the environment, it's really important for his personality."

Bellingham scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 games across competitions last season. He helped Real Madrid secure the La Liga title, Champions League, and the Supercopa de Espana.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund star was rewarded with the La Liga Player of the Season and the UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season for his showings. He is also among the favorites to lift the Ballon d'Or in 2024.
