Breaking: Real Madrid confirm star forward will miss El Clasico against Barcelona due to injury

Real Madrid have confirmed that forward Rodrygo will not feature in Saturday's El Clasico against Barcelona after picking up an injury ahead of the game. The Brazil international was forced off in his side's incredible 5-2 comeback win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday through injury.

Rodrygo has become a key player for Los Blancos in attack, playing in a variety of roles for the club. The 23-year-old Brazilian featured from the start against the German side on Tuesday, giving his all for the team. He pulled up in the 83rd minute with a thigh problem after straining to keep the ball in play successfully, a move which preceded his side scoring their third goal of the night.

Real Madrid have now confirmed that the forward, who lasted just two more minutes before being substituted, will not feature against Barcelona on Saturday. Both sides are set to lock horns in a first El Clasico meeting of the campaign, but Rodrygo will be out with a Biceps Femoris problem.

Carlo Ancelotti may opt to revert to his formation from last season in Rodrygo's absence when the game comes on Saturday, October 26. The Italian manager may choose to play in-form forward Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe in attack, with Jude Bellingham joining them from midfield as he did last season. Rodrygo is expected to be out for around 20 days following scans on his injury.

Goalkeeper doubtful for Real Madrid against Barcelona

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is a doubt for Spanish champions Real Madrid in their upcoming clash against Barcelona, as per Fabrizio Romano. The experienced shot-stopper picked up a niggle when he played for Los Blancos against Borussia Dortmund.

Courtois featured from start to finish against the Bundesliga outfit but appeared to have some discomfort after the game. Reports from the club indicate that the 32-year-old may have re-injured his adductor, which kept him out of action earlier this season.
