Breaking: Real Madrid suffer double injury blow as 26-year-old star gets stretchered off with knee problem after knock to Rodrygo
Real Madrid have suffered a double injury blow with Rodrygo and Eder Militao forced to come off during their match against Osasuna. The two Brazilians could be out on the sidelines for some time, adding to the club's already worrying injury list.
Rodrygo was the first to pick up an injury in the 20th minute of the match. The forward had combined well with Bellingham just minutes before the injury and had also taken a shot from long-range. The Brazilian looked like the biggest threat to Osasuna's goal but had to be forced off the pitch after a knock.
Militao was then stretchered off less than 10 minutes later with a knee injury. The defender looked in fine form and had not let the opponents get a single shot on goal. But he looks set to be on the sidelines for a long period because of the injury.
The defender was out with a muscular injury in September and a muscle injury last month but did not miss any match. He was out for the majority of the 2023/24 season because of an ACL injury. He picked up the injury in August 2023 and was out until March 2024 - missing 45 matches for club and country.
Los Blancos were 2-0 up at half time against Osasuna at the time of writing. Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham scored the goals for Carlo Ancelotti's side as they chase Barcelona in the league table.
Real Madrid already dealing with injury issues
Aurelien Tchouameni was ruled out earlier this week following an ankle sprain. The Frenchman was injured during the 4-0 loss to Barcelona. The club statement about the same read (via GOAL):
"After the tests carried out today on our player Aurelien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle."
Real Madrid are already without Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, and Dani Carvajal due to respective injuries.
