Breaking: Robert Lewandowski scores twice in space of two minutes to give Barcelona 2-0 lead over Real Madrid in El Clasico

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski continued his terrific form with two goals in as many minutes to put his side 2-0 up against Real Madrid on October 26. La Blaugrana are in the driving seat in the first El Clasico of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu after Lewandowski's double.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona largely canceled each other out in the first half of the encounter, with neither managing to score a legal goal. Kylian Mbappe thought he had scored for Los Blancos but saw the goal chalked off for a marginal offside call.

Barça began the second half on the front foot after Hansi Flick made a change, introducing Frenkie De Jong for Fermin Lopez. Flick's side put a quickfire double past their opposition thanks to goals from the in-form Lewandowski.

The Polish striker timed his run perfectly to meet a slide-rule pass from midfield sensation Marc Casado. He slotted his effort past Andriy Lunin in the 54th minute. Real Madrid had hardly restarted the game when the 36-year-old scored his second of the night two minutes later. Substitute De Jong played an inch-perfect one-touch pass over the top for Alejandro Balde, who whipped in a cross that was met by the head of Lewandowski.

The former Bayern Munich man scored twice to take his tally for the campaign to 14 in 11 league games. It is only five less than he managed in the whole of the 2023-24 season.

Robert Lewandowski continued his fine form for Barcelona with his well-taken brace against rivals Real Madrid. The Poland international was on the scoresheet for the Catalan giants in their midweek UEFA Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has three goals in as many games in the Champions League for his club, taking his tally to 17 across all competitions this season. He has also provided two assists, both in the league, for his side.
