Breaking: Spain midfielder Pedri in tears after being subbed off early due to injury during Euro 2024 quarter-final vs Germany
Spanish star Pedri left the pitch in tears after being taken off within the first 10 minutes of the Euro 2024 quarter-final clash between Spain and Germany. The midfielder was replaced by Dani Olmo in the eighth minute at the Stuttgart Arena on July 5th.
Pedri reportedly sustained a bad knee injury after German midfielder Toni Kroos fouled him. The German stretched his left leg out while the Barcelona man was dribbling through the pitch, and the Spaniard tripped, sustaining what looks like a serious injury. Kroos didn't receive a yellow card for the foul.
Pedri's injury could be a big blow for Spain in Euro 2024, as he's considered one of La Roja's most promising midfielders. He has been a guaranteed starter for Luis de la Fuente in all four of Spain's previous games and recorded one assist. He also had a whopping 94.75% passing accuracy as per UEFA's official website statistics.
Injuries have always held the midfielder back, as he missed over 20 matches last season for Barcelona due to the same reason. More information about his injury will determine whether the Spanish midfielder will be available for Spain's remaining matches if they qualify for the semi-final.
Pedri called Antonio Rudiger's pinching "disrespectful" ahead of Euro 2024 clash between Spain and Germany
Ahead of Spain's clash against Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-final, the Barcelona star spoke about German defender Antonio Rudiger's antics on the pitch.
The Spaniard told MARCA that Rudiger's pinching is annoying and disrespectful, although he admitted he is a good defender.
"He is a powerful and very good central defender, but you are not afraid of him. The pinching thing seemed like a lack of respect to me because it hurts and it’s annoying," he said.
The Spaniard also spoke of German star and his Barcelona teammate Ilkay Gundogan, calling him one of the best midfielders in the world.
