"Cannot be taken seriously" - Fans react as Real Madrid teenager names Cristiano Ronaldo and Sir Bobby Charlton as his childhood idols
Fans have reacted to Real Madrid teenager Endrick naming Cristiano Ronaldo and Sir Bobby Charlton as his childhood idols. This comes after the 18-year-old was unveiled in front of fans at the Santiago Bernabeu on July 27.
The Brazilian had already secured a move from Palmeiras, but could not do so until this summer, as he had to turn 18 before leaving Brazil to play in Spain. During an interview with the media, where he revealed tidbits about himself to the fans, the forward named Ronaldo and Charlton as his idols.
While Ronaldo is easily recognizable as one of the biggest footballers in modern history, Charlton was at the height of his career six decades ago. He won the World Cup with England in 1966, picking up the prestigious Ballon d'Or in the same year.
However, the age gap between Endrick, who was born in 2006, and Charlton, who retired from international duty with Engalnd in 1970, is enormous. Fans took to X to dissect Endrick's claims:
"He has more lies than goals 😭😭" one fan mocked.
"this boy cannot be taken seriously lmaoooo" another laughed.
"No way man 💀" a fan was shocked.
"Okay, I love Endrick, but Bobby Charlton?!? Endrick, you’re like 12… lmao" another joked.
"He needs to drop this Bobby Charlton gimmick ffs 😭😭" one fan opined.

Carlo Ancelotti reveals why Cristiano Ronaldo's successor Eden Hazard failed at Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti has enjoyed plenty of success at Real Madrid, winning trophies with Cristiano Ronaldo a decade ago before returning to the club to lead them to further glory. The Italian was tasked with accommodating Eden Hazard as the successor to the legendary Portuguese striker, but it did not turn out well.
Across four years at the Bernabeu, Hazard played 76 games, concluding his final season at the club with just six La Liga appearances, as injuries plagued him. His mega move from Chelsea, worth €100 million, soured quickly, with Ancelotti explaining on the Obi One Podcast (via BolaVip):
"When you are at Real Madrid and you have an injury, you have to come back and be competitive with the others. Because if you don’t play, there is someone else who is playing. That’s why I think he had difficulties competing, fighting, and playing.”
Hazard was supposed to continue in Cristiano Ronaldo's shoes at Madrid, but he managed just seven goals across four seasons.
