“Chelsea is a club that's always aiming for the biggest result” - Mykhailo Mudryk outlines what Blues teammates ‘have to do’ to succeed
Mykhailo Mudryk has said that Chelsea players need to keep improving and working hard to get their hands on silverware this season. He admitted that he was happy with the goal and assists this week in the UEFA Europa Conference League but wants to do more.
Speaking to Chelsea's website, the winger said that he's learning from Enzo Maresca and added that his suggestion helped him get the goal. He said that the Panathinaikos match wasn't easy despite a 4-1 win:
"I'm happy, we did well. We won this game and we got a great result from a great game. I'm so happy to score. Every player when they score is really happy.
"It wasn't an easy ball with the ball falling behind me, but I scored it, and we managed to win as well. I think the game wasn't that easy. It was good for us to score first. We fought well. We stuck to the plan, and we got the result."
He added:
"The coach always says to me to go to the second post, and I did that, and that's where I scored so we shook hands after.
"I don't want to give any prediction, but Chelsea is a club that is always aiming for the biggest results and getting to the greatest places in many tournaments. Talent ain't enough. If you want to succeed you have to work hard and be patient."
Chelsea are on top of the UEFA Conference League after winning both their matches. They are sixth in the Premier League going into the gameweek, where they take on Newcastle United.
Mykhailo Mudryk is slower to learn than other wingers, says Chelsea manager
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has said that Mykhailo Mudryk takes time to learn compared to other wingers at the club. He added that the former Shakhtar Donetsk star is getting to the level expected from him, but it has taken him longer than expected.
Speaking to the media, Maresca said that the coaches are working with Mudryk to make him better:
"We're working with him and all the wingers. They need to arrive inside the box in the position where Misha (Mudryk) scored. He's struggled to arrive there, now he's started to.
"That's where we're going to score goals. We want the best for Misha - since day one we've tried to help him. Probably he's one of the guys that the learning process is more slow compared to the rest. But he's improving."
Mudryk has played nine times for Chelsea this season but has scored just once. He has got five assists, but none have come in his four appearances in the Premier League.
