Chelsea keen to sign 35m-rated Bundesliga star but face competition from Paris Saint-Germain: Reports
Chelsea are keen on signing Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in the 2025 summer transfer window, according to The Chelsea Chronicle. The German club reportedly wanted £35m for their attacker in the previous transfer window, when Chelsea were keen on adding him to their ranks.
Since then, the likes of Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix have bolstered the attacking ranks at Stamford Bridge. However, it appears as if Chelsea are still keen on bringing Adeyemi on board but they could face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain if they do so.
The 22-year-old has scored two goals and bagged three assists in the five matches he has played so far in the Bundesliga. Adeyemi also gained popularity after a stunning hat-trick he scored against Scottish club Celtic in the UEFA Champions League on October 2. However, he has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since then.
While he is best known for playing as a winger, Adeyemi can also chip in as a striker if the need arises. Either way, Chelsea have enough personnel in the respective departments to justify spending so much money on him. If he does come on as a winger, he will have to fight for a spot with Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Neto, and Sancho. The latter, however, is on loan from Manchester United.
Chelsea to face Newcastle United for the second consecutive time on Wednesday
Chelsea will travel to the northeast of England to take on Newcastle United for the second time in a row in three days. The Blues beat the Magpies 2-1 at home in the Premier League on Sunday, October 27, and will now face their opponents in an EFL Cup game on Wednesday, October 30.
The Blues know that they will have to be at their best to beat Newcastle in their den, as St James' Park is known to be an intimidating place to visit. When the two sides last squared off at the venue, the Magpies ran away 4-1 winners in a Premier League clash last season.
In the Premier League, Enzo Maresca's men are currently ranked in the fifth position of the table with 17 points in their kitty after nine games.
