Chelsea star Cole Palmer names who among Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool he wanted to win Premier League this season
Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer recently said he wanted Manchester City to win the Premier League title over Arsenal and Liverpool. The former City midfielder added that he still had no regrets about leaving the Etihad last summer.
The Premier League title race went down to the final matchday in the 2023-24 campaign but Manchester City eventually prevailed. They beat West Ham United 3-1 at home on the final day to beat Arsenal to the title by two points. In doing so, they became the first team to win the Premier League title four times in a row.
In a recent interview with The Sun, Palmer said that he was hoping City win the title:
"I was hoping Man City would win the title as I have got a lot of friends there, so I’m glad that they did it. But there’s no regrets at all for the decision I took."
Palmer left Manchester City to join Chelsea last summer for a reported transfer fee of £42.5 million. He was exceptional for the Blues, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists in 45 games across competitions. This includes 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 Premier League games.
He had recorded just six goals and two assists in 41 senior games for Manchester City.
Arsenal ahead in the race to sign Chelsea target: Reports
As per Daily Mirror (via Metro), Arsenal are ahead of Chelsea in the race to potentially sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.
The Blues have been interested in signing Olise for a while now and even made an attempt last summer but in vain. The 22-year-old missed the majority of the 2023-24 campaign due to a hamstring injury but was impressive when he played. He scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 games across competitions.
His performances have seen the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all vying for his signature. However, the Gunners are said to be leading the race as they can offer Olise UEFA Champions League football next season. While United are in the Europa League, the Blues will compete in the Europa Conference League.
Crystal Palace value Olise at over £60 million with his contract expiring in 2027. They signed him from Reading for £8.37 million in 2021 and he's contributed 16 goals and 25 assists in 90 games for the Eagles.
