Chelsea star Cole Palmer signs new deal with higher salary after excellent first season with the club - Reports
Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has reportedly signed a new deal at the club following his excellent debut season at the club. The England international has extended his contract with the Blues by two years until 2033, and has had his wages increased, as well.
Signed almost as an afterthought, Palmer took the Premier League, and indeed Europe, by storm in the 2023-24 season. The forward joined Chelsea for an initial £40 million fee with a further £2.5 million in add-ons from Manchester City. He a seven-year contract with an option for a further year.
Fabrizio Romano has corroborated the story from David Ornstein which revealed that Chelsea have handed Palmer an extension this summer. The club have decided to tie down the 22-year-old for two more years, at least, while giving him improved wages.
Cole Palmer enjoyed a breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge and was so often Mauricio Pochettino's most important player in the 2023-24 season. The talented forward scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for the Blues.
Palmer won the Premier League Young Player of the Year award due to his quality performances throughout the course of the campaign. He led the league in goal contributions, with his 33 goals and assists.
Chelsea didn't enjoy the genius of Palmer alone last season, as he took his quality to the Euros in the summer. He scored once, the equaliser in the final against Spain, as England narrowly missed out on winning the competition, losing 2-1.
Palmer enjoyed an extended summer holiday and only played his first pre-season minutes in his side's draw against Inter Milan on Sunday, August 11. The forward is expected to start in their Premier League opener against Manchester City on August 18.

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has made the six-man shortlist for the 2023-24 PFA Player of the Year award. The English sensation is the only player to make both the lists for Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season.
Palmer was named among the nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year in recognition of his stunning season. The forward now makes the list for the Player of the Year award alongside Rodri, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Martin Odegaard, and Ollie Watkins.
Cole Palmer saw his side finish lowest among the nominees (6th) but his quality shone through all through the campaign. The former Manchester City man is a favorite for the Young Player of the Year award and is believed to stand a chance in the Player of the Year category, also.
