Chelsea star Jadon Sancho’s viral comment on American pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s Instagram post resurfaces
Chelsea forward Jadon Sancho's comment on Sabrina Carpenter's Instagram post from May recently resurfaced on the internet. The English winger was a deadline-day loan addition for the Blues after a tumultuous stint at Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2021 - the same year Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford. However, it never worked out for Sancho and he was eventually loaned out to Borussia Dortmund in January 2024.
In addition to finding his footballing mojo back with Dortmund, fans noticed his escapades on social media too. Back in May 2024, Jadon Sancho dropped a comment on American singer Sabrina Carpenter's post.
Carpenter took to Instagram following a show in the United Kingdom for BBC Radio 1. Posting snapshots and clips from the event, she expressed her gratitude to fans for attending the show despite the pouring rain. Carpenter also thanked the band Coldplay for letting her perform with them.
In the comment section of the post, Jadon Sancho wrote:
"Legend!"
For those unaware of Sabrina Carpenter's work, the 25-year-old first gained popularity as a Disney actress between 2011 to 2014 before switching her career trajectory to music.
Carpenter became one of the most sought-after musicians in 2024 after the release of her chart-busting album, Short n' Sweet featuring songs like Taste, Espresso, and Please Please Please.
Jadon Sancho opens up about his aspirations after a match-winning debut for Chelsea
Jadon Sancho was one of the best players on the pitch in his debut game for The Blues against Bournemouth on Saturday (September 14). The English forward was presented in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful in their previous match against Crystal Palace, with Enzo Maresca handing him his debut against Bournemouth.
The Englishman replaced Pedro Neto in the 46th minute and provided an assist to help Christopher Nkunku score a late winner (86') at the Vitality Stadium. After the match, Sancho spoke about his mentality and aspirations with his new club to the in-house media. He said (via Chelseafc.com):
“It is amazing to make my debut for Chelsea and just be back playing. I am very grateful. I thought the team played very well, we dug in until the end and we are happy with the three points. I have been working hard for this moment and I am happy that I got my chance."
He continued:
"I had a great end to last season, being in the Champions League final, and I told myself going into this season that I wanted to have a great start to the season, and this is my first game so to get a win for Chelsea and obviously to make my debut too."
Sancho was also named the Man of the Match for that game, and his name was incessantly chanted by the away fans in the second half. After an exciting debut, the Englishman will face West Ham United at the London Stadium on September 21.
