Chelsea star sends special message to Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai on his 23rd birthday
Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku wished Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai on his birthday on Wednesday, October 25.
Szoboszlai turned 23 on Wednesday and received birthday wishes from across the footballing community. One of those was from Nkunku, who shared an Instagram story of a picture from their time together at RB Leipzig with the caption:
"Happy Birthday my G"
The Hungarian playmaker shared Nkunku's wish on his Instagram stories.
Nkunku and Szoboszlai shared the pitch 73 times at RB Leipzig and combined for 13 goals, with the latter scoring eight of them. The duo have moved to the Premier League in the summer but are yet to face each other.
Chelsea signed Nkunku from Leipzig for £52 million in January but joined them in the summer. After an impressive pre-season, he suffered an ACL injury and hasn't been able to make a competitive appearance for the Blues.
Szoboszlai, meanwhile, has been excellent for Liverpool since arriving for £60 million in the summer. He has made 12 appearances across competitions, scoring twice.
Chelsea and Liverpool target reveals the club he wants to play for in future
Fiorentina striker Nicolas Gonzalez has said that he wants to play for Argentine club River Plate someday in the future. The 25-year-old came through the ranks of Argentinos Jrs. before moving to VfB Stuttgart in 2018. He spent three years at the German club before joining Fiorentina.
Gonzalez has scored 29 goals and provided 16 assists in 93 games across competitions for them. As per Sport Bible, Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing Gonzalez. However, he wants to play for River Plate in the future, as he told ESPN:
"I really want to play for River. I want my brother to see me in that shirt. It would be very special. But today I’m in Europe. One day I hope it will come true."
"I wouldn’t go to River for a walk. You have to win everything. I would love to win the Copa Libertadores and the championship. It would be very nice."
Chelsea still seem to be in the hunt for a new forward, with Nicolas Jackson flattering to deceive so far. He has scored just three goals in 10 games across competitions since arriving from Villarreal in the summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are stacked in the attacking department. But they could need reinforcements if Mohamed Salah leaves in 2024, with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad still keeping an eye on him (h/t GOAL).
