Chelsea target joins Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr in surprise move

Brazilian goalkeeper Bento has agreed to a deal with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr amid interest from Premier League side Chelsea. It was reported that Italian giants Inter Milan were also considering signing the 25-year-old shot-stopper (via One Football).

This news comes at a time when the Blues have been linked with a few goalkeepers, with some uncertainty around the first choice at Stamford Bridge. Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic shared the responsibilities in the 2023-24 campaign, but neither has been overly convincing.

As a result, the west Londoners were looking to sign Bento from Athletico Paranaense. However, confirming that the Brazil international has signed for the Saudi Pro League club, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter):

"Official, confirmed. Brazilian goalkeeper Bento signs in as new Al Nassr player on four year contract. €18m package, here Bento together with director Fernando Hierro."

Before joining Al-Nassr, the keeper made 164 appearances across competitions for his previous employers, managing 59 clean sheets in the process. It may be surprising to many that Bento has agreed to move to Saudi Arabia, given his age.

With the reported chance to pursue a career with top European clubs, one would've expected Bento to transfer to a club like Chelsea. However, it isn't the case, and now he will team up with Ronaldo, who is contracted at Al-Nassr till the summer of 2025.

Al-Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo's rivals Al-Ittihad have reportedly made an official offer for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Providing an update on the situation, journalist Rudy Galetti wrote on X:

"Al-Ittihad sent an official bid to Kepa: a long-term contract with a salary of €7m/y. The club is waiting for a response from the GK."
"Talks are underway also with Chelsea, who consider him out of the plans: contacts with PIF will continue."

The Spain international is out of favor at Stamford Bridge and spent the entirety of the previous campaign on loan at Real Madrid. However, it wasn't a successful stint, making just 13 starts in La Liga.

With a potential competition for minutes in west London, a move away for the 29-year-old would be ideal. To date, he's made 163 appearances across competitions for Chelsea, keeping 59 clean sheets. Kepa has won the UEFA Champions League and Europa League once each, among other honors with his current employers.
