Chelsea Transfer News Roundup: Blues agree move for Argentinean ace; Bayern Munich set Kingsley Coman price, and more - June 28, 2024
Chelsea are hoping to improve their fortunes under Enzo Maresca. The Italian manager is fresh off winning the Championship with Leicester City and was handed the keys to the Blues first team earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the Blues have agreed a move for Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino. Elsewhere, the London giants have received a boost in their efforts to sign Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Conan this summer.
On that note, here's a look at the key Chelsea transfer stories as on June 28, 2024:
Chelsea agree move for Aaron Anselmino, says Fabrizio Romano
Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Aaron Anselmino, according to acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Argentinian defender has earned rave reviews with his performances for Boca Juniors recently.
His efforts have earned him admirers at multiple clubs across the continent. The Blues are looking for a new defender following Thiago Silva's departure this summer.
Tosin Adarabioyo was roped in on a Bosman move following the expiry of his contract with Fulham. However, with Trevoh Chalobah's future also up in the air, Maresca needs more reinforcements at the back, and Anselmino has been identified as an option.
Speaking recently, as cited by GIVEMESPORT, Romano added that the London giants are working to strike a deal with Boca.
“I saw a question about Anselmino on personal terms with Chelsea. Personal terms are not the problem.
"So Anselmino already said yes to Chelsea, it’s not the problem on the player side, the real point is to reach an agreement with Boca. This is what they're trying to do,” said Romano.
Anselmino fits the recent youth-centric transfer policy at Stamford Bridge.
Bayern Munich set Kingsley Coman price
Bayern Munich are willing to let Kingsley Coman leave for €50 million this summer, according to HITC. The French forward endured an injury ravaged 2023-24 campaign, managing just five goals and three assists in 27 games across competitions.
The Bavarians are looking ahead to a new era under Vincent Kompany and are making multiple changes to their squad after a disappointing season. Conan has been deemed surplus to requirements, and the German giants are willing to consider offers for the 28-year-old this summer.
The Frenchman has been a vital figure at the Allianz Arena over the years. Despite his recent struggles, the player's stock remains high, and he could be a fine option for the Blues. The likes of Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk have struggled to impress, and Conan could be an upgrade.
However, prising him away won't be easy, with Liverpool and Arsenal also eyeing the Frenchman. Given Conan's recent injury woes, his suitors are likely to try and secure him for less than Bayern's asking price.
Blues wary of Alexander Isak price tag, says Fabrizio Romano
Chelsea believe that a move for Alexander Isak might be beyond them due to the finances involved, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Newcastle United striker has caught the imagination of clubs across the continent after scoring 25 goals in 40 games across competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.
Blues are looking for a new No. 9 this summer and have the Swede on their wish list. Isak could be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, who has blown hot and cold since arriving from Villarreal last summer.
Romelu Lukaku, meanwhile, spent the season on loan at AS Roma and is not part of Enzo Maresca's plans. The Italian is expected to push for attacking reinforcements this year, and Isak could be the perfect focal point of his attack next season.
However, in his column for Caught Offside, Romano insisted that the 24-year-old is unlikely to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
“We’ve had many rumours about Alexander Isak and Chelsea, with contacts taking place with Newcastle, and from what I’m told Chelsea are 100% aware of the situation with the Swedish striker – he is considered absolutely too expensive," wrote Romano.
He continued:
“We already know that Chelsea felt Nico Williams and Michael Olise were too expensive.
"Newcastle would ask for crazy money for Isak, he has a long-term contract at the club, and they are also thinking internally at the moment about offering him a new deal.”
Isak is under contract with Newcastle United till 2028.
