Chelsea Transfer News Roundup: Blues eyeing Bundesliga ace; club want Leicester City midfielder, and more - June 29, 2024
Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager earlier this month. The Italian was roped to replace Mauricio Pochettino and has been tasked with helping the club reclaim their heyday.
Meanwhile, the Blues have set their sights on Hoffenheim forward Maximilan Beier. Elsewhere, the London giants are interested in Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
On that note, here's a look at the major Chelsea transfer stories as on June 29, 2024:
Chelsea eyeing Maximilian Beier, says journalist
Chelsea have joined the race to sign Maximilian Beier this summer, according to journalist Christian Falk. The German striker caught the eye with Hoffenheim in the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 16 goals and setting up three more in 35 games across competitions.
The Blues are expected to invest in a new No. 9 this summer following their struggles in front of goal. Nicolas Jackson was roped in from Villarreal last summer, but the Senegalese has failed to live up to expectations.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku spent the season on loan at AS Roma and is likely to make a permanent exit this year. The London giants are scouting the market for a new striker and have zeroed in on Beier.
In his column for Caught Offside, Falk added that the 21-year-old has a €32.5 million release clause in his deal.
“Chelsea FC is interested in German international Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim. However, the player is not yet convinced about the change. It is not the first club from England to be interested in Beier. Liverpool FC, Everton, Burnley and Brentford also always had him on the list,” wrote Falk
He continued:
“What makes him particularly attractive for England: Beier has a release clause of €32.5m. This is a high sum by German standards, but Premier League clubs can pay it much more easily.”
Beier fits in perfectly with Chelsea's recent youth-centric transfer policy.
Blues want Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Chelsea are planning to reunite Enzo Maresca with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer, according to The Athletic. The English midfielder was key to Leicester City''s Championship triumph in the 2023-24 season under the Italian manager.
Dewsbury-Hall ended the campaign with 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 games across competitions. The Blues are pleased with his efforts and want to prise him away this summer.
Brighton & Hove Albion are also hot on his heels and are expected to give the London giants a tough fight in the race. However, the 25-year-old would prefer to rekindle his partnership with Maresca if he leaves the King Power Stadium this summer.
Dewsbury-Hall rose through the ranks with the Foxes and is under contract with the club till 2027. He could be a fine replacement for Conor Gallagher, whose future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain.
Hakim Ziyech completes permanent move to Galatasaray
Hakim Ziyech has made his stay at Galatasaray permanent, Chelsea have confirmed. The Moroccan left Stamford Bridge last summer to join the Turkish side on loan and enjoyed a decent 2023-24 campaign.
The 31-year-old scored eight goals and set up four in 23 games across competitions. Galatasaray had an option to keep him permanently at RAMS Park, which they have exercised.
Ziyech joined the Blues from Ajax in 2020 with a huge reputation but never lived up to the billing. He departs the club with 14 goals in 107 appearances across competitions.
