Chelsea Transfer News Roundup: Blues not eyeing Bundesliga star; Leicester City man eager to join, and more - June 30, 2024
Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino last month after an underwhelming 2023-24 campaign. Enzo Maresca was roped in as the Argentinean's replacement earlier this month, and the Italian is working to add more quality to the first team.
Meanwhile, the Blues are not interested in Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier this summer. Elsewhere, Leicester City midfielder Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall is eager to team up with his former manager at Stamford Bridge.
On that note, here's a look at the key Chelsea transfer stories as on June 30, 2024:
Chelsea not eyeing Maximilian Beier, says Fabrizio Romano
Chelsea are not in talks to sign Maximilian Beier this summer, according to acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The German striker enjoyed a stunning campaign with Hoffenheim, scoring 16 goals and setting up three in 35 games across competitions.
Beier has subsequently emerged as a target for the Blues this summer, with Enzo Maresca expected to add a new No. 9 to his arsenal. Nicolas Jackson has failed to convince so far, so the 21-year could be an upgrade on the Senegalese.
However, speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano said that the London giants aren't thinking of a new striker after securing Marc Guig's services from Barcelona.
“The striker they are signing, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, the process to trigger the release clause has already started, so it’s going to be a €6 million deal. They really believe they are making a smart deal by signing him," said Romano.
He continued:
“At the moment, for the other striker, it is still not something imminent or something close. Chelsea are assessing their options and are considering several players. At the moment, also with Maximilian Beier, it is not something imminent.”
Beier reportedly has a €32.5 million release clause in his contract, as per journalist Christian Falk.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall eager to join Blues, says Fabrizio Romano
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is ready to move to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The English midfielder is coming off a fruitful season with Leicester City, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship.
Dewsbury-Hall registered 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 games across competitions under Enzo Maresca in the 2023-24 campaign. Recent reports have suggested that the Italian manager is eager for a reunion with the 25-year-old at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca could be without Conor Gallagher once the season starts, with the player set to enter the final year of his contract next month. The 24-year-old was an omnipresent figure under Mauricio Pochettino but hasn't been offered a new deal yet. Gallagher could be offloaded to help balance the books, and Dewsbury-Hall could be a fine replacement for his countryman.
On his YouTube channel, Romano added that the 25-year-old is waiting for the Blues to make a move this summer.
“Conversations are still ongoing for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall! Chelsea are still trying to find a way; the player has delayed his holiday and is waiting. Chelsea wants to include players still and wants the right deal structure,” said Romano.
Dewsbury-Hall is under contract at the King Power Stadium till 2027.
Jadon Sancho not wanted at Stamford Bridge, says journalist
Chelsea have turned down the chance to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, according to club insider Simon Phillips. The Manchester United forward spent the second half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho had a decent campaign with the Bundesliga side, registering three goals and three assists in 21 games across competitions. However, he has a strained relationship with Erik ten Hag, and the Red Devils are likely to let him go this summer. Recent reports have suggested that the Blues have been offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old.
In his column for Substact, Phillips confirmed those rumours but added that Sancho isn't wanted at Stamford Bridge.
“Agent offered him to Chelsea, Blues politely said no thank you — not the right fit,” wrote Phillips.
The London giants are likely to target attacking reinforcements this summer and are eyeing other candidates for the role.
