Chelsea Transfer News Roundup: Blues eyeing German ace, Conor Gallagher close to Atletico Madrid move, and more - July 31, 2024

Chelsea are working to add more quality to their squad after an underwhelming 2023/24 campaign. The Blues finished sixth in the Premier League and have since replaced manager Mauricio Pochettino with Enzo Maresca.

Meanwhile, the Blues are interested in a Bundesliga striker. Elsewhere, Conor Gallagher is inching closer to a move to the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium.

On that note, let's look at the major Chelsea transfer stories from July 31, 2024.

Chelsea have set their sights on Maximilian Beier, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Blues are in the market for a new striker this summer and are eyeing a move for Napoli ace Victor Osimhen.

However, it now appears that Beier is also on their radar. The German forward was in impressive form for Hoffenheim in the 2023/24 campaign, registering 16 goals and three assists from 35 games.

Plettenberg adds that the London giants as well as Aston Villa have submitted concrete proposals for the 21-year-old to consider. However, the Bundesliga side are yet to receive an official offer for their star man. The player reportedly has a €30m release clause in his contract.

Conor Gallagher is close to moving to Atletico Madrid this summer, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The English midfielder has entered the final year of his contract with Chelsea and hasn't signed a new deal yet.

Gallagher rose through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and was an omnipresent figure under Mauricio Pochettino last season. The 24-year-old registered seven goals and nine assists from 50 games across competitions but it hasn't been enough to earn him a contract renewal.

Los Rojiblancos are attentive to his situation and have already established contact with the Blues to script a move this summer. Talks have progressed well and a move could materialise for €35-40m.

The transfer will be registered as pure profit in the books due to the player's homegrown status. That would be a massive help to the London giants as they seek to adhere to the Premier League's new Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, the transfer will only be possible if Gallagher is willing to move to the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium this summer. Recent reports have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur also have their eyes on the Englishman.

Tosin Adarabioyo insisted that he joined Chelsea this summer because he was convinced by the club's project. The London giants were on the hunt for a new defender after Thiago Silva's departure.

The English defender was available as a free agent earlier this summer following the expiry of his contract with Fulham. The Blues moved quickly to lap him up amid interest from multiple clubs, including Newcastle United.

Speaking to The BBC, the 26-year-old added that he made up his mind to move to Stamford Bridge as soon as Chelsea entered the picture.

"You're better off asking my agent about that. Once I knew Chelsea were interested, I was fully focused on that. When it came down to it, to hear the project that's going on here, it's amazing. It’s an amazing project, an amazing club, so for me it was a no-brainer," said Adarabioyo.

Enzo Maresca could be back in the market for further defensive reinforcements with Trevoh Chalobah's future also up in the air.
