"Closest thing I've seen to Federer playing tennis" - Juan Roman Riquelme lavishes praise on Real Madrid superstar

Argentina legend Juan Roman Riquelme has lavished praise on Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos. He compared the German with tennis great Roger Federer.

Federer, during his career, was known for his magical rhythm and immaculate accuracy on the court. He is one of the greatest to have graced the sport of tennis.

Kroos, on the other hand, is one of the finest midfielders of the modern era. He can dictate the tempo of a game like very few others can. Apart from that, the 34-year-old boasts pinpoint accuracy with his passing and shooting.

Riquelme has now compared Kroos with Federer, saying (via Madrid Xtra on X):

"Toni Kroos is the closest thing I have seen to Federer playing tennis."

Toni Kroos, 34, is having yet another stellar season with Real Madrid. He has scored once and provided nine assists in 40 appearances across competitions this season.

Los Blancos, meanwhile, have already won the La Liga title. They have also reached the UEFA Champions League final and will play Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.


Carlo Ancelotti provides an update on Toni Kroos and Luka Modric's Real Madrid futures

Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have been two stalwarts of the Real Madrid midfield for the past decade. They have been instrumental to the club's success. Both players, however, will be out of contract at the end of June. They signed one-year extensions last summer.

Carlo Ancelotti has now provided an update on the duo's future. He said (via Football Espana):

"Toni is a person who always has very few doubts, he's very clear, and very honest. The profile of a person that Like, besides being Italian, I do feel a little German."

Speaking about Modric, Ancelotti said:

"I've never had a problem with Modric because as well as being a top-level player, one of the best midfielders in the world, he's a spectacular person. We've never had a problem, nor will we, because we respect each other a lot."

Kroos and Modric, despite their age, have played important roles for the club this season.
