Cole Palmer reacts to Moises Caicedo's response as Chelsea stars pick ‘easiest’ position to play in football

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has responded to his teammate Moises Caicedo's choice of the easiest position to play in the game. The 22-year-old Palmer has been at the Blues since arriving from Manchester City last summer.

The Euro 2024 finalist has six goals and five assists in nine games across competitions this season. All 11 goal contributions have come in seven games in the Premier League, where Enzo Maresca's side are fourth, four points off leaders Liverpool (18).

In a fun video shared by a Blues fan AzM, a group of Chelsea players were asked the 'easiest position to play' in the sport. The responses ranged from goalkeeper, full-back and bench, among others.

Midfielder Caicedo's response of central defensive midfield drew a laugh from Palmer. Here's how all the responses went:

Palmer: "CDM"
Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall: "Full-back"
Jadon Sancho: "Bench"
Marcus Bettinelli: "Striker"
Christopher Nkunku: "Centre-back"
Marc Guiu: "Goalkeeper"

Meanwhile, Caicedo, 22, arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion on a reported club record £115 million last summer.

The Ecuadorean midfielder has provided an assist in nine games across competitions this season, with that goal contribution coming in a 3-0 Premier League win at West Ham United last month.

What's next for Chelsea?

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca looks on.

Chelsea have made a good start to the season under new boss Enzo Maresca since kicking off the Italian's stint with a 2-0 home loss to four-time defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

Since then, the Blues have lost just once - in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off - in eight games across competitions, winning five. They're coming off a 1-1 home draw in the league with Nottingham Forest at the weekend, where Cole Palmer provided the assist to Noni Madueke's second-half equaliser.

They return to action after the international break with a blockbuster Premier League clash at leaders Liverpool on October 20 as they seek to move up the standings. The Blues then host Panathinaikos four days later in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

After beating Servette 3-2 on aggregate in the play-off, Maresca's side commenced their European campaign with a 4-2 home win over Belgian side Gent, with four different Blues players getting on the scoresheet.

The Blues host Newcastle United in the league on October 27 before hosting Newcastle United in the EFL Cup Round of 16 three days later to close out the month.
