"Congratulations my brother" - Real Madrid legend Marcelo sends heart-warming message to Luka Modric as latter signs new deal with club
Real Madrid legend Marcelo has sent a heart-warming message to Luka Modric as the 38-year-old midfielder signed a new deal with the Spanish club. The Croatian's contract with Los Blancos has been extended until 2025.
Modric's previous contract with the La Liga giants expired on June 30. There was a lot of speculation about his future but he has now signed a new contract.
Meanwhile, Modric and Marcelo shared the pitch at Los Blancos for 10 years before the latter's departure in 2022. The Brazillian defender shared a story on Instagram dedicated to the midfielder's contract extension with the caption:
"Congratulations my brother 💜 Luv u 😍"
After the extension was announced, Los Blancos star Jude Bellingham also reposted a post from the club's account on his Instagram story, adding four emojis with starry eyes.
The English midfielder has publicly expressed his admiration for Modric and former Los Blancos icon Toni Kroos. Back in April, Jude said (via @TheCroatianLad on X):
"Toni Kroos and Luka Modric play a totally different game. They see things before they happen on the pitch and always seem to be so calm."
Luka Modric, who arrived at Santiago Bernabéu from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, has netted 39 goals and provided 86 assists in 534 appearances for Los Blancos.
