Conor Gallagher provides response when asked about his potential exit from Chelsea this summer

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has appeared to throw cold water on the rumors that he could exit the club this summer. The Englishman started his career at the west London outfit, making his way up through the youth teams at Cobham.

Gallagher is a fan favorite for what he represents and his energetic style of play and despite being a highly sought-after player, he does not seem to fancy a move.

In quotes provided by Fabrizio Romano, the England international insisted he is currently focused on playing for the Three Lions and returning to the Blues after the Euros. He said:

“Full focus on the Euros. I couldn't be happier with the position I'm in. it was sad to see Pochettino go. He’s done so much for me, but I’m really excited for the new manager coming in and working with him.”

Conor Gallagher is one of the senior members of the club and often dons the armband in the absence of captain Reece James or vice-captain Ben Chillwell. He made 37 league appearances for his boyhood club last season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.

Chelsea could potentially offer Conor Gallagher a new contract

According to the Guardian, Chelsea could potentially offer Conor Gallagher a new contract. The 24-year-old midfielder is an important player at the club and while he could fetch as much as £50 million if sold, he would be a big miss for the team.

The English midfielder has just one year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and the Blues could risk losing him for free transfer next year. As a result, the Blues have considered including him in a swap deal for Jhon Duran of Aston Villa. Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.

The player reportedly wants to stay at his boyhood club and Chelsea are also open to offering him a contract extension following negotiations.

Conor Gallagher is an academy graduate and selling him would register as pure profit for Chelsea if a deal is sanctioned. However, the best option available might be to secure the 24-year-old midfielder to a longer contract so the club have a better negotiating position.
