"Cost Miami the game", "He's finished" - Inter Miami fans blast Lionel Messi's superstar teammate as the Herons draw 1-1 with Charlotte FC
Inter Miami fans criticized Luis Suarez after he missed a glorious opportunity to grab a late winner for Lionel Messi and company. The Herons were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC at the Chase Stadium on Saturday, September 28.
The first half remained fairly even with neither side being able to break the deadlock. However, the visitors took the lead in the 57th minute against the run of play via Karol Swiderski's effort. Lionel Messi proved to be the hero 10 minutes later, leveling the scores with a good finish.
Inter Miami's persistence nearly paid off in the 12th minute of stoppage time when Jordi Alba nodded the ball down into the path of Suarez. Despite having an open goal to tap into, the Barcelona legend somehow fired over the crossbar.
In addition, Suarez didn't have the best of games, missing two big chances, completing none of his two attempted dribbles, and losing four duels.
Inter Miami fans were furious as one posted:
"Suarez cost Miami the game.."
Another fan reacted:
"He's finished"
Other reactions can be viewed below:
"Suarez gotta make that last second opportunity count cuz goddamn man," one fan commented.
"Suarez has finished inter Miami," one fan insisted.
"Pathetic. Suarez should be off the team. 30 attempts at least a dozen on goal and that miss at the end. That was so pathetic. Par for the course in the @mls... I thought Miami was the exception. We suck like the rest of this minor league," another added.
"Hate him so much man… this guy always misses the biggest chances. 25 UCL goals but “best striker of his generation” this goal would’ve sealed the title for Miami. He’s such a fraud man," one fan tweeted.
"Nah man I bro could have costed Miami the league with this miss," another chimed in.
"This is the worst man. Miami are about to blow the lead for the supporter's shield. This miss will cost very much," one predicted.
