"Couldn’t win the ‘we beat Real Madrid trophy’" - Top 10 funniest memes as 'Barcelona's owner' Bellingham seals last-gasp El Clasico win
Social media was rife with hilarious takes on Real Madrid's memorable 3-2 win against Barcelona in El Clasico tonight (April 21). Carlo Ancelotti's Los Blancos left it late but Jude Bellingham popped up with a dramatic 90+1st minute winner at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was an enthralling battle between the two El Clasico rivals in their top-of-the-table clash. Andreas Christensen headed the visitors into the lead in the sixth minute after questionable goalkeeping from Madrid's Andriy Lunin.
However, Real Madrid were handed a route back into the game in the 17th minute. Lucas Vazquez was brought down by Pau Cubarsi and Spanish referee Soto Grado pointed to the spot.
Vinicius Junior stepped up and calmly drew the hosts level at 1-1. This wasn't the most controversial moment to occur during a frantic first half.
Barcelona looked to have scored in the 28th minute when Lamine Yamal shot at goal. Lunin pushed the ball out but the Catalans were adamant it had gone over the line.
VAR reviewed the alleged goal for several minutes before deciding that the ball hadn't fully crossed the line. It's still up in the air as to whether the ball was over the line or not.
Barca retook the lead in the 69th minute and it was a delightfully worked goal. Yamal sent a shot towards Lunin's goal which Ferran Torres dummied to give the Ukrainian shot-stopper issues.
Lunin could only parry the attempt into Fermin Lopez's path and the Spanish attacker put the Blaugrana 2-1 up. The La Masia academy graduate replicated Bellingham's celebration which you'll see fans take a dig at below.
Xavi's side's lead lasted just four minutes as Real Madrid ventured forward with aplomb. Vinicius sent a perfect cross into the far post and Vazquez met it with a neat finish to level proceedings.
Bellingham came to the fore and perhaps sealed Madrid's La Liga triumph in the 90+1st minute. Carlo Ancelotti's men broke forward and Vazquez's cross fell to the in-form English superstar who fired home the winner.
It was a devastating defeat for Barca given they were ahead twice on the night and fans were amused on X (formerly Twitter).
One X account hilariously dubbed Bellingham the Catalans' new owner with a witty picture:
"Barcelona's new owner."
A Cristiano Ronaldo fan account mocked Barca for failing to beat Madrid this season:
"Barcelona are going trophyless and still couldn’t win the ‘we beat Real Madrid trophy’ this season. I’m crying."

Jude Bellingham hails Lucas Vazquez after Real Madrid beat Barcelona
Tonight capped off a perfect week for Vazquez who has been somewhat of a bit-part player this season. The Spaniard scored in Real Madrid's 4-3 penalty shootout win against Manchester City (April 17) to book their place in the Champions League semifinals.
Vazquez scored and assisted against Barcelona tonight to take his tally for the season to two goals and five assists in 32 games across competitions. The 32-year-old right-back is somewhat of an unsung hero but Bellingham ensured he got his flowers tonight.
Real Madrid's matchwinner took to X after the win and praised his Spanish teammate:
"Lucas Vazquez you f*****g legend."
Vazquez's future is somewhat uncertain as his contract expires in June. He's been with Los Blancos for the majority of his career and looks set to win his fourth La Liga title.
Madrid's win means they moved 11 points clear of Barcelona in the title race. There's just six games of the La Liga campaign left and Ancelotti's men are closing in on dethroning their El Clasico rivals.
