“Cringe” - Ryanair flame England for their tweet on midfielder Jude Bellingham
Irish airline Ryanair have mocked England's official social media team for their tweet on Jude Bellingham's goal in the Three Lions' 1-0 win on Sunday (June 16).
The Real Madrid midfielder's only goal of the game in the 13th minute proved to be the difference as Gareth Southgate's men recorded their first win of Euro 2024.
However, the victory was far from comfortable as opponents Serbia constantly asked questions of the English defence throughout the contest. Following Bellingham's early strike, the country's social media team wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Belligoal."
Mocking the post, Ryanair replied:
"Cringe."
Nevertheless, the 20-year-old's header was extremely important as it took England to the top of Group C after one match. To date, Bellingham has made 30 appearances across competitions for The Three Lions, bagging four goals and five assists.
On the night, he, along with Bukayo Saka, were the standout players for England, and the pair combined for their country's goal. Bellingham registered an impressive passing accuracy of 96% while ensuring all four of his attempted long balls found their target.
He won nine out of 15 ground duels and managed to win his only battle in the air. Bellingham also completed two of his five attempted dribbles and won his side four fouls during the match.
Up next for Bellingham and Co. is a group game against Denmark on Thursday (June 20).
Jude Bellingham reacts to his goal and England's win against Serbia
England come into this competition full of hope after nearly crossing the line in Euro 2020. They made it to that year's final but lost to Italy 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
With the aim of winning this tournament, The Three Lions have started their campaign well, securing all three points against Serbia. Speaking after the game's conclusion, their goalscorer Jude Bellingham said (via BBC Sport):
"I am willing to do whatever it takes and am ready to do everything to help the country win this football tournament."
His goal was ample proof of his comments. With the ball looping in the box, Bellingham showed great desire to get to it first and thump it into Serbia's net.
The 20-year-old comes into the competition full of confidence after scoring 23 goals and bagging 13 assists for Los Blancos this past season.
