Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has named Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe among other stars while building his perfect footballer. In an interview with GOAL, the Englishman revealed his picks based on left foot, right foot, speed, strength, passing, skill, and football IQ.
Shaw named Gareth Bale when asked about his choice for left foot. The former Welsh forward won five UEFA Champions League titles during his nine-year tenure with La Liga club Real Madrid. Before his retirement in January 2023, Bale was known for his pace, athleticism, and potent strikes from distance.
For the right foot, 28-year-old Shaw chose his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The English defender has always been vocal about his admiration for the Portuguese legend and has played with him for a season during Ronaldo's second stint with the Red Devils.
When asked about speed, Luke Shaw went with Kylian Mbappé. Regarded as one of the best of his generation, the French forward is hailed for his dribbling, speed, and finishing. For strength, Shaw named Spanish forward Adama Traoré, who is a La Masia graduate and plays for Premier League side Fulham.
Shaw picked Argentine icon Lionel Messi as his choice for passing. The Barcelona legend is a great choice in this category as he scores high when it comes to pass completion and accuracy. For skill, Shaw went with Brazilian star Neymar, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.
Lastly, for football IQ, Luke Shaw chose Spanish defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets, who plays for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami after having spent 15 terrific years at his boyhood club Barcelona.
