Cristiano Ronaldo labeled ‘GOAT’ by Manchester United star after record-breaking brace in Al-Nassr's win over Al-Ittihad

Cristiano Ronaldo has been labeled the GOAT of football by the Portuguese superstar's former Manchester United teammate Jadon Sancho.

The Al-Nassr superstar managed to get his name onto the record books for becoming the highest goalscorer in a single Saudi Pro League season. Ronaldo bagged a brace for his side in their 4-2 win over Al-Ittihad on Monday, May 27.

The former Real Madrid forward now has 35 goals in 31 Saudi Pro League appearances this campaign, which is the most ever managed by a player in a single season.

After managing this feat, Ronaldo took to Instagram to celebrate his latest record and wrote:

"I don't follow the records, the records follow me."

Sancho, who played 37 matches alongside the 39-year-old at Manchester United, bagging one joint goal contribution across competitions, commented a GOAT emoji (via @TheNassrZone).

The pair played together during Ronaldo's second stint at Old Trafford from August 2021 to November 2022. Ronaldo had his contract mutually terminated with the English club after a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag in November 2022. He then decided to join Al-Nassr in January 2023.

Since then, he's been exceptional for his Saudi Arabian employers, having played 63 matches across competitions, bagging 58 goals and 15 assists. However, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has yet to lay his hands on the Saudi Pro League trophy or the AFC Champions League.

Not only did Cristiano Ronaldo manage to score the most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season, but also achieved another milestone.

After bagging a brace in Al-Nassr's final game of the season against Al-Ittihad, the Portugal captain also finished as the top scorer of the league. This made him the first player in the sport to finish as the highest goal scorer in four different leagues (via Football 365).

With Manchester United, Ronaldo won the Premier League Golden Boot during the 2007/08 season after bagging 31 goals. He finished as the top scorer in the Spanish first division on three occasions while representing Real Madrid for nine years.

Lastly, he managed to score 29 times with Juventus from 33 matches in the 2020/21 campaign to finish as Serie A's highest goalscorer that season.
