Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate sentenced to prison term as details of downfall emerge

Moha Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammate, has been sentenced to prison. This follows a career slump in which the goalkeeper went from being a potential talent at the Bernabeu to failing in the lower divisions in Spain.

The Canary Islands Superior Court of Justice announced Ramos' imprisonment after he failed to appear in Madrid for a court summon. According to a report from BolaVIP, the 24-year-old had his suspended sentence overturned and was punished for drunk driving and two charges of causing injury.

In 2017, Ramos famously trained and played alongside Ronaldo, jumping into the first team when other goalkeepers Keylor Navas and Luca Zidane were injured. At only 16 years old, he looked set to become one of the club's youngest goalkeepers in history.

However, Ramos left Real Madrid in 2021 to join Birmingham City, where he failed to meet expectations. After struggling in England, he returned to Spain and played for several teams, but never appeared in La Liga. He recently played for Las Palmas B and was on the Tenerife B squad when he was sentenced to prison.

When former Real Madrid player turned to fishing after playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo

Moha Ramos's career has gone downhill since leaving Madrid in 2021. Meanwhile, Fabio Coentrao, another former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, chose a different path. Coentrao, who played with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner at Real Madrid and in the Portugal national team, had a brilliant career with Los Blancos from 2011-2018.

He won two UEFA Champions League titles during his seven-year tenure with the club. However, the former full-back retired at age 33, opting to turn to fishing. He said in an interview from 2021 (via ESPN):

"My father always had a boat, he was really into fishing. I used to go a lot with my father. I liked it very much. Whenever I had that bit of time off, whenever I was on holiday, my life was... it was the sea, it was fishing."
"And of course I knew that one day football would end, I would have to take another direction in my life. My happiness is this land, the sea. And obviously that being so, I want to lead this life," he added.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to succeed in football, now playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. The 39-year-old legend joined the Saudi club in January 2023, scoring 58 goals and providing 15 assists in 64 games since then.
