“Cristiano Ronaldo said the same thing” - Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic on how he can ‘improve’ and end goal drought
Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has said that he will not allow his goal drought to discourage him. He will instead use what Cristiano Ronaldo said as motivation to turn the unwanted situation around.
Since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in 2022, Vlahovic has struggled for consistency in putting the ball behind the net. Cristiano Ronaldo, whom the Serbia international said he will use as motivation, had quite a decent time at the Italian club, scoring 21 goals and eight assists in his debut season. Two seasons later, he was the league's top scorer with 29 goals.
Vlahovic, on the other hand, is struggling to make an impact and has recognized that he needs to improve. While his goal-scoring problems were initially blamed on former manager Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics, the Serbian striker is struggling to find his groove under new manager Thiago Motta as well.
In an interview with DAZN Italia, Vlahovic said he will use fellow national Novak Djokovic and Cristiano Ronaldo’s words to turn a bad spell around. He said (via Juvefc.com):
“It’s true, at times things go wrong on the pitch and I start getting agitated, but I am trying to change that, because it really doesn’t help. As Novak Djokovic said: ‘My best ability is knowing how to cancel an error from my mind.’ Cristiano Ronaldo said the same thing and I know this is where I can improve. It is so important to have balance, so not get too excited when things go well, nor let your head drop when they go badly.”
Juventus confirm appeal of court ruling €9.8 million payment to Cristiano Ronaldo – Reports
Juventus have reportedly confirmed that they will appeal a court ruling that ordered them to pay their former player Cristiano Ronaldo an amount of €9.8 million plus 9% interest due to inflation. The appeal was confirmed in a paperwork that was released today (September 28) after the meeting by the club’s board of directors.
According to Football Italia, Juventus have released a note that says that it lodged an appeal on September 26, 2024, to the Work Section of the Turin Tribunal. The Old Lady said in the appeal statement that they have fulfilled all payments to Ronaldo in the financial year 2023-24.
The situation became tense when the Portuguese forward left the Italian club on transfer deadline day to join Premier League side Manchester United in 2021. At the time, he reportedly signed a release form, confirming that the Old Lady did not owe him any money. However, he was actually still owed some amount of money.
The situation has raised eyebrows because during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ronaldo reached an agreement with the Old Lady that permitted the club to defer salary payments to him. He did this to help the club navigate through the financial difficulties posed by the pandemic. On another side, it came to light that a lot of players who also agreed to the salary deferment during the pandemic have been paid those wages in different forms through bonuses and sponsorship deals.
