Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Al Nassr fans after falling 11 points behind Al Ittihad in title race
Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a five-word message on social media after Al-Nassr dropped 11 points behind Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. The Riyadh-based club lost 1-2 at the hands of the current leaders in the league on Friday, December 6, at the King Abdullah Sports City.
The Portuguese's 57th-minute goal proved to be a mere consolation. It was Al-Nassr's second defeat in the league this season in 13 games.
Taking to social media after the loss, Cristiano Ronaldo insisted that his team would come back stronger.
"We will come back stronger," wrote Ronaldo.
The Portuguese moved to the Middle East in December 2022 after parting ways with Manchester United. The 39-year-old had a fallout with former manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford and ended up criticizing the Dutchman in a controversial interview.
The episode forced the Red Devils to sever ties with their prodigal son. After weeks of speculation, Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Nassr.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has registered 74 goals from 83 games for the Riyadh-based club so far. He has also won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
However, the Saudi Pro League has eluded the player ever since his move to the Middle East. Al-Nassr have finished second in the league in the past two seasons and are currently fourth in the table.
How many league titles has Cristiano Ronaldo won in his career?
Cristiano Ronaldo has found success at every club he has played for in his career. He has won the league in England, Spain, and Juventus so far.
The Portuguese first won the Premier League with Manchester United in the 2006-07 season. He went on to make it a hat-trick of league trophies in England, winning the league in the next two seasons as well.
Ronaldo left the Red Devils in the summer of 2009 to move to Real Madrid. He won the league twice with Los Blancos, in the 2011-12 season as well as the 2016-17 campaign.
After nine seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Portuguese moved on to a new adventure, joining Juventus in 2018. In his three years at Turin, the player won the Serie A twice, among other trophies.
Ronaldo will enter the final six months of his contract with Al-Nassr in January. Recent reports have suggested that the Saudi club are planning to tie him down to a new deal.
