Cristiano Ronaldo or Thierry Henry? Robert Lewandowski chooses between legendary attackers
Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has made his pick between legendary strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. While Lewandowski and Ronaldo are still playing, Henry has retired.
Lewandowski and Ronaldo are two of the best strikers of the current generation, with the latter also regarded as one of the best of all time. Henry, meanwhile, was also a top marksman for club and country, scoring goals galore.
Both Lewandowski and Ronaldo are currently in action at Euro 2024 with their respective teams. While Lewandowski's Poland have been eliminated from contention after losing their opening two games, Ronaldo's Portugal are into the knockouts after winning their first two outings.
Lewandowski recently made his picks between strikers, the last being Henry and Ronaldo. Here's how the interaction - as tweeted by Max Steph - went:
"Van Nistelrooy or Lukaku: Van Nistelrooy"
"Van Nistelrooy or Zlatan: Zlatan"
"Zlatan or Van Persie: Van Persie"
"Van Persie or Wayne Rooney: Van Persie"
"Van Persie or Kane: Kane"
"Kane or Mbappe: Mbappe"
"Mbappe or Lewandowski: Lewandowski"
"Lewandowski or David Villa: Lewandowski"
"Lewandowski or Thierry Henry: Thierry Henry"
"Thierry Henry or Fernando Torres: Thierry Henry"
"Thierry Henry or Cristiano Ronaldo: Thierry Henry"
Lewandowski is looking to join Ronaldo as the only players in European Championship history to score in at least four editions.
How Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski have fared at Euro 2024?
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski are yet to open their accounts at Euro 2024. While Ronaldo has played both games for his team, Lewandowski has only played once, coming on for the last 26 minutes of the 3-1 loss to Austria.
That defeat - coming after a 2-1 loss to the Netherlands - where Robert Lewandowski didn't come off the bench - have eliminated the Poles from knockout contention. The Polish striker will now look to end his campaign on a high by scoring in a fourth European Championship.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is also scoreless in two games at Euro 2024. However, he had a huge opportunity to open his account in the 3-0 win over Turkey on Saturday (June 22).
Ronaldo - one-on-one with the Turkish goalkeeper - unselfishly squared the ball to an unmarked Bruno Fernandes for his team's third goal. While he's still looking to become the first player to score in six Euros, he's now level with Karol Poborsky (eight) for most assists in the competition.
