“Deschamps is a clown”, “It’s a shame” - France fans slam coach for not naming 21-year-old in line-up to face Netherlands at Euro 2024

France fans on social media are angry with coach Didier Deschamps for not naming Bradley Barcola in their Euro 2024 starting lineup against the Netherlands on Friday, June 21.

The French fans expressed their displeasure at Bradley Barcola being benched and Adrien Rabiot starting on the left wing over him. Many fans also preferred Kolo Muani and Kingsley Coman in the line-up over Rabiot. Here are some of the reactions:

"Dechamps is a clown for not starting barcola," a fan said.
"Dembele will carry this team like always but its a shame that barcola isn’t starting man," a fan wrote.
"RABIOT AT LW OVER BARCOLA?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA," another said.
"Rabiot should be on bench & Barcola should be starting," a fan claimed.
"Barcola should be starting," a comment said.
"Rabiot LW when you got kolo muani and barcola on the bench," one was surprised.
"He's literally got Coman, and Barcola on the team, why he starting rabiot?😭😭😭" one more complained.
"Rabiot as lw but not barcola?" one said.
"Barcola can’t be that bad to have Rabiot start on the wing ahead of him," one more wondered.

Following Kylian Mbappe's nose injury in France's Euro 2024 opening match against Austria, the Frenchman was not included in the Deschamps's starting line-up against the Dutch. The No. 10 for France broke his nose after colliding with Austrian defender Kevin Danso's shoulder during their fixture on June 18.

Instead of Mbappe, the coach went for Antoine Griezmann, Marcus Thuram, and Ousmane Dembele in the attacking line-up. The French midfield includes Adrien Rabiot, Aurelien Tchouameni, and N'Golo Kante. The starting defenders are Jules Kounde, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba, and Theo Hernandez.

With a 4-3-3 line-up, Les Blues must eye a win against the Dutch to qualify for the Round of 16. If they secure a win, they will proceed to the knockout stage and Kylian Mbappe could maybe rest for their next match against Poland as well.

It remains to be seen whether Kylian Mbappe comes on as a substitute for some minutes against the Netherlands tonight after starting on the bench.
