“Deserves to start” - Fans unhappy with Hansi Flick refusing to name 24-year-old Barcelona star in starting line-up vs Atletico
Fans are unimpressed with Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick's decision to exclude Ferran Torres from their starting XI against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga. The match is slated for November 21, at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Ferran Torres has started in seven out of the 15 appearances he has made for Barcelona this season while registering five goals and two assists. The 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in October and was out for 53 days, missing eight matches for the Blaugrana.
With his form and contributions to the Blaugrana's 2024-25 campaign, many wonder why Torres has not become a regular starter for the Catalan club.
Fans online questioned Hansi Flick's decision not to name Ferran Torres in Barcelona's starting line-up against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga. Here are some of the reactions from X:
One fan wrote:
"Where is Ferran? Ferran deserves to start"
Another added:
"I wish Ferran had started"
"Why can't you people start Ferran Torres. Lewan needs to start from the bench," chimed in another fan.
One account posted:
"Can't believe I'm saying this but Ferran deserves a start"
Another tweeted:
"Lewandowski bench, Ferran start"
"Where is Ferran Torres?," posted another.
One user wrote:
"No Ferran?"
While another wrote:
"This lineup is nonsense"
Ferran Torres joined the Blaugrana from Manchester City in 2022 and his current contract there is valid until the summer of 2027. He has registered 30 goals and 15 assists in 128 appearances across competitions for the Catalan club so far.
Barcelona reportedly set to race Paris Saint-Germain for Luis Diaz next summer
Spanish media outlet Fichajes.net reported that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are in a race to acquire Luis Diaz's signature in the next summer transfer window. The 27-year-old plays for Liverpool and his contract there is valid until the summer of 2027. The Reds are also reportedly trying to get the Colombian left winger to sign a contract extension.
According to the report by Fichajes.net, Barcelona has been keen on signing Diaz for a while now. However, they were unable to make a move due to their financial constraints. The Blaugrana have been looking to strengthen their squad, specially for making enhancements in their left wing, and can now pursue the star with their recent financial reforms.
Luis Diaz has registered nine goals and three assists in 22 appearances for Liverpool this season. While Fichajes.net suggested that the former Porto star is more inclined to make a move to the Catalan club, it remains to be seen where he ends up next summer.
