"Doesn't belong in our back line", "Clean sheet gone" - Fans react as Real Madrid star starts in defense for LaLiga clash against Sevilla

Real Madrid have announced their starting lineup for today's LaLiga clash against Sevilla, and fans aren't confident of their chances after seeing Aurelien Tchouameni in it. The Frenchman is set to make his 14th appearance in the league this season and has once again taken up the centre-back spot for the reigning Spanish champions.

Los Blancos' title defense hasn't been the smoothest so far. They've dropped points in a total of six games out of 17, but have two games in hand over Barcelona and one over Atletico Madrid.

A victory tonight would mean Carlo Ancelotti's side move to second place, but it's far easier said than done against a bogey team like Sevilla. The Andalusian outfit recently pushed Atletico down to the wire by netting thrice at the Wanda Metropolitano and will be motivated to replicate the same.

With Tchouameni in defense, Real Madrid's supporters feel there won't be a clean sheet tonight. They took to X to share their concerns, and here are some of the best reactions:

One user tweeted:

"Tchouameni doesn't doesn't belong in our back line for chrissake💀🤌"

Another X user believes that Sevilla are going to score tonight:

"Tchouaméni playing CB again today means clean sheet gone 😭"

Another fan seemed annoyed as he asked:

A fan called out Carlo Ancelotti for favoring Tchouameni over rising star Raul Asencio, as he said:

Another X user asked:

"So why is tchouameni still cb?"

Real Madrid host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight.

A chance for Real Madrid to pull clear of Barcelona

Real Madrid have had their fare share of struggles as defending champions so far, but all's not lost yet. With Barcelona fumbling lately, they have a chance to go two points clear of them with one more game in hand.

The Blaugrana were beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid yesterday as they succumbed to their third consecutive home league defeat of the season. After winning 11 times in their opening 12 games, Hansi Flick's side have won just once in their next seven.

But that doesn't mean the race is theirs to lose. It's imperative for Madrid to remain on their rivals' coattails as the season reaches the halfway mark.
