"Don't know if I'm watching England or Socceraid" - Fans react as England play out drab 0-0 Euro 2024 draw against Slovenia
English fans were left disappointed once again after England drew 0-0 in their final Euro 2024 group stage fixture against Slovenia on Tuesday, June 25. Their previous match against Denmark had also ended in an underwhelming 1-1 draw.
The Three Lions supporters took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their views on the match, with most of them complaining about how boring their games have been in the group stages. Most blamed Southgate for his tactics, but some pointed out issues with players like Bellingham and Gallagher as well. Here are some fan reactions:
"Southgate has managed to make this side as boring as the Euro 2012 one that had Andy Carroll up front with the golden generation on their last legs," a user wrote.
"The England squad have spent all week crying about the media saying they've been s*ite and then have the nerve to turn in a performance like this," another added.
"I’ve wasted 270 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back watching England. I hate myself," a fan said.
"Slovenia good value for their point. England have found some consistency - absolutely abysmal," a fan wrote.
"Southgate actually got room temperature IQ. Saka was fine. The one who‘s been stinking it up upfront is Bellingham but he won‘t sub him off because he got Messi Ronaldo esque PR whilst having the footballing ability of Nicklas Bendtner," another added.
"Good thing England games are always at night, it’s the best way to prepare for bed," a comment read.
While England have secured their spot in the Euro 2024 knockout stage, fans have been concerned about their mediocre form in the group stage games since the beginning. Southgate's men scored only two goals in three games in the group stage, which is quite unexpected from one of the best squads in the tournament.
Who will England face in the Euro 2024 Round of 16?
Gareth Southgate's men finished at the top of the table with five points in Group C in the Euro 2024 group stages. They are set to face one of the four third-placed teams in the tournament from Groups D or E on June 30 (Sunday) at Gelsenkirchen.
After France drew 1-1 against Poland in their Group D clash this evening (June 25) and Austria won 3-2 over Netherlands, the Dutch are placed third in Euro 2024 Group D. The Three Lions will face either the Netherlands or the third-placed team from Group E.
Slovakia are currently ranked third in Group E, which also includes Romania, Belgium, and Ukraine.
If the English win their Round of 16 tie, they will face either Switzerland or Italy in the quarter-finals.
