"Don’t think he will retire before the age of 50" - Georgina Rodriguez responds when asked about Cristiano Ronaldo's potential retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo's partner Georgina Rodriguez has predicted the superstar footballer will not retire before 50. The Portuguese ace recently scored his 901st career goal (against Scotland in the UEFA Nations League) and is not showing any signs of slowing down even at 39.

Ronaldo has had a fiery start to the 2024-25 season, recording four goals and two assists in five games across competitions for Al-Nassr. He also scored twice in Portugal's first two UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia (September 5) and Scotland (September 8). A Selecao won both matches by 2-1 scorelines.

In the recently released third season of Georgina Rodriguez's Netflix documentary, I Am Georgina, the Argentine gave her input on her partner's retirement plans when asked. She said (via @CristianoXtra_ on X):

"I don’t think he will retire before the age of 50."

The Al-Nassr captain discussed his retirement with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel UR. Cristiano last month, saying (via @TeamCRonaldo on X):

"I feel until now that I can dribble, shoot, score, and jump high. The day I feel unable to do that, I will take my bag and quit football, but I am far from this thing. I have scored 50 goals last season."

Cristiano Ronaldo also expressed his desire to reach 1000 career goals before retirement.

The Al-Nassr superstar once confessed that he was close to retirement from the national team after an underwhelming performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo made little impact, scoring just once in five appearances as Portugal were knocked out by Morocco in the quarterfinals.

Recalling those tumultuous times, he told reporters in 2023 (via GOAL):

"I'm not going to lie. In our life, we have to put everything on the scale. We thought, we reflected, me and my family, but then we came to the conclusion that, despite the difficulties, we cannot throw in the towel. I was able to see situations at different angles. I learned a lot from that."

Cristiano Ronaldo went on to appreciate Portugal's new manager Roberto Martinez for having faith in his ability, saying:

“I'm glad to be back. Roberto Martinez showed that he counted on me. I've always wanted to play. As you know, he talked to everyone and to me, too. And I was able to realise that I have a lot to give to the national team. I feel it, I want it, and my desire is to take Portugal to the highest level. I will always give my contribution when they need me.”

With form in his favor and a personal milestone to chase, it'll be interesting to see if Cristiano Ronaldo plays for the national team till the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
