Endrick involved in collision with Real Madrid defender which led to latter tearing ACL in training: Reports
Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Endrick has been revealed to have been the cause of the injury to teenage defender Joan Martinez in training. Los Blancos have begun the season in inauspicious fashion, particularly on the injury front since the start of pre-season.
Endrick finally joined Real Madrid this summer, after signing for the club aged just 16 years old. Now 18, the striker failed to make an impression during the side's US tour, with the likes of Antonio Rudiger encouraging him to be more physical in training.
Marca has reported that the advice from Rudiger to the teenager may have been what led to the season-ending injury suffered by 16-year-old defender Joan Martinez. The academy graduate ruptured his ACL in the immediate aftermath of a challenge from Endrick during Friday's training session.
Joan Martinez was part of Los Blancos' squad to the USA after catching the eye of Carlo Ancelotti in training. The young centre-back enjoyed a good season playing in Alvaro Arbeloa's Juvenil A side in the 2023-24 season, earning him rave reviews within the club.
Real Madrid looked to include Martinez in their first-team squad this season after missing out on Leny Yoro, who moved to Manchester United. With David Alaba still out injured, the Spanish champions are left with the trio of Eder Militao, Jesus Vallejo and Antonio Rudiger as their senior centre-backs.
The European champions will be worried with their injury list this summer as academy stars Daniel Mesonero and Cesar Palacios both also injured their ACLs this summer. Palacios had made his debut for the senior side in pre-season against AC Milan when he injured his ACL.
Real Madrid turn down Premier League approaches for Endrick - Reports
Real Madrid have turned down inquiries from the Premier League for the signing of Brazilian teenager Endrick on loan, as per HITC. The 18-year-old moved to the Santiago Bernabeu officially this summer, completing his transfer from Palmeiras which was agreed upon when he was only 16.
Newcastle United are reportedly one of the teams with interest in Endrick, with the other team unnamed as the 18-year-old is set for his first season in Europe. The Brazil international has a huge task on his hands to get regular minutes at the Bernabeu this season.
Real Madrid have made a huge outlay on the teenager and will hope that Carlo Ancelotti can nurture him to reach his full potential. With the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr ahead of him in the pecking order, he will have his work cut out for him at the club.
