England star Adam Wharton’s brother who plays football for Blackburn Rovers banned from flying to Germany for Euro 2024 due to unique reason

England midfielder Adam Wharton's brother Scott Wharton has been banned from flying to Germany to watch his sibling at Euro 2024. Scott, 26, has recently had surgery and has been barred from flying.

Scott Wharton suffered a serious knee injury in April and had to undergo surgery. He has been advised against flying by doctors. But that hasn't stopped the older Wharton brother, who plays as a centre-back from Blackburn Rovers, go to Germany.

Scott, who is taking on an adventurous road trip to Germany instead, told iTV ahead of England's win against Serbia on Sunday, June 16, (via SportBIBLE):

"I can't fly for two months and it's been six weeks since the surgery. Me and my partner, we are driving to Hull to catch the ferry to Rotterdam and then drive into Dusseldorf, where we're staying for the first game."
"It's more of a road trip- I am looking forward to it! Honestly, I just feel like a proud dad. The family is massively proud of him, of how far he's come in such a short space of time," he added.

Adam Wharton didn't play a part during the Three Lions' 1-0 win against Serbia in their Euro 2024 opener. The midfielder, who moved to Crystal Palace from Blackburn in the January transfer window, has since provided three assists in 16 Premier appearances for the Eagles.

Adam Wharton ecstatic at England call-up for Euro 2024

Adam Wharton has been a bright spark for Palace since his January move to the Premier League club. He was called up to England's Euro 2024 squad ahead of veterans like Jordan Henderson.

Wharton reflected on the call-up, claiming it was surreal but a dream realization moment for him.

"It's a surreal feeling. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it. Just a dream come true. Every kid who grows up playing football wants to play football wants to play in the Premier League, play for their country," he told BBC.

Wharton didn't play against Serbia but could play a key role in the tournament moving forward.
