Erik ten Hag provides injury update on Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro after Manchester United’s 1-2 loss against Arsenal
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund's injuries after the 2-1 friendly defeat against Arsenal in Los Angeles on July 27. Ten Hag's injury woes worsened as both Hojlund and Yoro were forced off the field during the game.
Hojlund scored the opener for the Red Devils in the 10th minute before the Brazilian duo of Gabriel Jesus (26') and Gabriel Martinelli (81') won the game for the Gunners.
After the match, Ten Hag claimed that his side would have to wait more than 24 hours to know the full extent of the injuries suffered by two of his key players. The Dutchman said (via United Zone on X):
"We have to wait over 24 hours and then we know hopefully more. We were very carefull especially with Leny, he did only 50% from the sessions and then it is very disappointing that he then has to come off but let's be positive and see what the outcome."
Manchester United paid LOSC Lille €70 million (including add-ons) to sign young Yoro. He looked set to be a key player during the 2024-25 season but the recent injury could turn out to be a big blow for the Red Devils, who suffered from persistent injury issues last season.
The same goes for Hojlund, who is expected to spearhead the attack this season despite Joshua Zirkzee's arrival from Bologna.
Manchester United veteran Jonny Evans provides injury update on Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro after Arsenal defeat
Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has revealed that Rasmus Hojlund might have injured his hamstring. The Northern Irishman is unsure about the extent and nature of Yoro's injury.
Speaking to the media after the Arsenal match, Evans said (via Sky Sports News):
"Rasmus hinted that it's his hamstring, I am not sure about Leny yet."
A player is usually sidelined for three to four weeks for hamstring injuries, meaning Hojlund could miss the beginning of the season. There's no concrete word yet about Yoro's injury.
