Erling Haaland breaks Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry's all-time FPL price and sets new record
Erling Haaland's Fantasy Premier League price has been revealed and it happens to be a new record, breaking those of Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. According to the official account, the Manchester City striker will now cost an impressive £15 million in just his third season in England.
This won't stop him from being on the FPL teams of many players, as the forward has enjoyed an impressive run of goalscoring form. Before reaching these FPL heights, Haaland cost £14 million last season, as much as Thierry Henry cost while at Arsenal. Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie also cost the same during their respective spells at Manchester United.
Now, Haaland has gone a million pounds higher, and it is hardly any surprise. He earned 217 points last season and was picked by 73.6% of all FPL players. In his first season with Manchester City, he scored a record-breaking 36 goals in 35 league games. His second season was a bit worse, but he still led the league, scoring 27 goals in 31 games.
It will arguably take Haaland some more time to reach the legendary status players like Cristiano Ronaldo reached in the Premier League though. The City striker has broken records already, but he will be expected to remain on top of his game throughout his time with the Cityzens.
Legendary manager reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal's sub-par EUROs
Legendary manager Jose Mourinho has reacted to his country's exit from EURO 2024, where Cristiano Ronaldo could not score a single goal. A Selecao were seen as a strong favorite, but they failed to meet these expectations.
Ronaldo failed to find the net once, even missing a penalty in extra time against Slovenia. Portugal eventually crashed out of the EUROs in the penalty shootout against France in the quarter-final. Jose Mourinho reacted afterward, telling Sport TV (via GOAL):
“Portugal wasn’t fantastic, despite reaching the quarter-finals. We expected more. I was at the National Stadium for the Portugal-Croatia [friendly] match and it didn’t smell good. I didn’t get a great feeling. During the tournament we were the team that was making progress, but we weren’t convincing."
He added:
"Often, when the moment of truth comes, these teams are stronger. This wasn’t the end of Portugal, there wasn’t any improvement in the team."
Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that this will be his last appearance in the EUROs. However, the legendary striker may be looking to drive the Selecao during the upcoming FIFA World Cup in 2026.
