Erling Haaland equals Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible record after scoring vs Arsenal

Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has equaled Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible goalscoring record in their Premier League clash against Arsenal on September 22. The legendary Portuguese forward scored an impressive 100 goals in his first 105 games with Real Madrid. Haaland has now equaled this, scoring his 100th goal against the Gunners on September 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo went on to score a remarkable 450 goals in just 438 games for Los Blancos. The legendary striker has since scored a stunning 764 club goals in his career. His total goal tally has crossed 900, making him the first player to score that amount.

Erling Haaland looks set to take over those reins, having equaled Ronaldo's impressive record. The Norwegian superstar is not to be trifled with, as teams in the Premier League are feeling the brunt of his attacking prowess. The striker has already scored 10 goals in just less than five league games this season and is expected to score many more.

Ronaldo, however, has left Europe entirely, with the 39-year-old now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr. This season, he has scored five goals in six games across all competitions, and his focus will be reaching the 1000-goal mark.

Pep Guardiola has compared Erling Haaland to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Erling Haaland made his 100th appearance for Manchester City in their 2-0 win over Chelsea on August 18, where he notably scored a goal. Pep Guardiola spoke about the striker afterwards, praising him for his goalscoring efforts.

Speaking to the press, the manager said that Haaland had become even better than last season (via Eurosport):

“I had the feeling that he [Haaland] feels better than last season at this stage. Always he felt tired but with the Euros not being there, he is rested and feels good. The goal was magnificent. His contribution was defensively and in midfield too."

The manager continued, comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi:

“These are numbers like [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo, that controlled everything in the last decade. His numbers are that level. To do that in this country is unbelievable.”

Erling Haaland has put his name on the scoresheet in their match against Arsenal, where the Gunners were leading 2-1. With Leandro Trossard picking up a red card, the Arsenal are down to 10 men. Manchester City will look to take advantage of this numerical advantage in the second half.

Haaland will be hoping he can score yet another goal in the game and potentially help his side win when they return from their half-time break.
