Erling Haaland reacts on social media as he sets new Norway goalscoring record
Erling Haaland expressed his excitement on social media after he set a goalscoring record for Norway following their UEFA Nations League clash against Slovenia. Haaland bagged a brace in the match on October 10 to become Norway’s all-time leading scorer with 34 goals.
Norway hosted Slovenia at the Ullevaal Stadion in their third group game of the Nations League. They secured a comfortable 3-0 victory to move to the top of the standings. Erling Haaland opened the scoring for the Lions just seven minutes into the match, reacting quickly to Jan Oblak’s spilled save and firing through the goalkeeper’s leg. It made him the joint all-time leading goal scorer for the Norway national team with 33 goals (level with Jorgen Juve) in 36 appearances.
Having taken a slender lead going into the break, the hosts made a blistering start into the second half. Their efforts paid dividends seven minutes after the restart. Haaland was the instigator once again as he forced Vanja Drkusic into a rushed clearance that went in the direction of Alexander Sorloth. The Atletico Madrid man wasted no time rolling the ball into the back of the net from close range.
Erling Haaland put the game to bed in the 62nd minute as Sorloth teed him up on the edge of the area, allowing him to curl the ball into the bottom left corner.
Having equaled Jorgen Juve’s record with his first goal, Haaland’s second goal made him the country’s all-time leading goal scorer with 34 goals in 36 appearances. He overtook the former Norwegian forward, who scored 33 goals in 45 appearances between 1928 and 1937. It is important to note that Jorgen Juve set the record in 1934.
After the match, Haaland took to his social media to react to his new record for Norway. He posted a picture of himself with a background depicting that he is Norway’s top scorer with 34 goals. He captioned it:
''A special night. Thankful for all the support along the way!"
Haaland was really impressive against Slovenia on the night. He had 13 touches in the opposition box, registered 11 sots, completed 7/9 passes, had seven shots on target, won 3/3 aerial duels, and scored two goals.
Erling Haaland appears set to become a father
Erling Haaland seems to have revealed that he and his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen are set to become parents. Prior to posting a picture of becoming Norway’s all-time top scorer, Haaland shared another image on his social media. It was a picture of himself with the matchday ball under his shirt and his thumb in his mouth.
He posted the image to X, and above it was a baby and 'coming soon' emojis as can be seen below:
Haaland met Isabel as a kid when they played football for Bryne.
