Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe’s brother Ethan shares emotional message on social media after suffering severe injury ahead of UCL reunion

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe will not face younger brother Ethan in the UEFA Champions League this season, the younger Mbappe confirmed on Instagram. The potential matchup excited many after the draw for this season's competition pitted Lille and Los Blancos on Wednesday, October 2.

Both Mbappe boys were on the books of French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the 2023-24 season before both leaving the club to move elsewhere. The older of the two, Kylian, was a superstar addition to the Real Madrid squad, while 17-year-old Ethan opted to remain in France with Lille.

Ethan Mbappe has appeared four times for Lille since joining the club, including once in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. The midfielder suffered a severe thigh injury, rupturing his quadriceps muscle in the game against Le Havre on Saturday, September 28.

The teenager made a post on Instagram, where he detailed his feelings about getting injured and his desire to come back stronger. He also wrote about his disappointment at missing the first opportunity to face Kylian Mbappe in the UEFA Champions League.

"I got injured during the match.. and I'm going to be away for several weeks. It's a difficult moment for me because it's the first time since I've played football.
But the sadness has passed, I am determined to come back stronger. With the support of my family, my teammates and all the medical staff, I will put all my energy into my rehabilitation to return to the best level.
Even though I'm not on the field for a while, I'll continue to support my team and work hard behind the scenes.
My dream of meeting my brother in the Champions League is getting far but not disappearing... Thank you all for your messages of support, it gives me the strength to get through this time. I can't wait to come back and meet you all on the field. Let's go @losclive❤❤❤"

Ethan Mbappe is set to miss a good number of games, starting with the Real Madrid one, after undergoing surgery to repair the damage. He had previously suffered a leg injury at the back end of August, which caused him to miss four games, including one against former club PSG.

Kylian Mbappe makes Real Madrid squad for Lille showdown - Reports

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has been included in their squad to face Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The French forward was previously expected to spend three weeks on the sidelines, having injured his thigh last week.

Mbappe had to come off in the 80th minute of Real Madrid's La Liga tie against Alaves last week with a thigh problem. The 25-year-old was on the scoresheet with his sixth goal in seven games for the side as they won 3-2.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has named Kylian Mbappe in his squad for the Lille game, as per Marca, after he made a quick recovery. The former PSG man began his rehabilitation immediately after his diagnosis, leading to his quick recovery.

Kylian Mbappe may feature in the game against Lille, or Ancelotti may push his return forward to the weekend's (October 5) game against Villarreal.
