Euro 2024: Jude Bellingham scores incredible overhead kick equalizer for England against Slovakia

Jude Bellingham scored an impressive overhead kick equalizer for England against Slovakia in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024 on June 30. Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany hosted the clash. The goal came moments before the final whistle, taking the match to extra time, and giving the Three Lions a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Slovakia opened their scoring in the 25th minute with forward Ivan Schranz's goal from an assist by David Strelec. Gareth Southgate's squad did not have a shot on target in the first half. Jude Bellingham scored the equalizer via a sensational overhead kick from an assist by defender Marc Guéhi in 90+5 minutes.

England national team captain Harry Kane put them in the lead through an assist by Ivan Toney just one minute into the extra-time. They eventually held on to Slovenia's pressure and it ended 2-1 in their favor. They will face Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals on July 6.

England have been runners-up in the UEFA European Championship in 2020 and third twice in 1968 and 1996, but are yet to claim to title.

England captain Harry Kane on his on-pitch relationship with Jude Bellingham during Euro 2024

Harry Kane mentioned that he is working on his on-field relationship with his national teammate Jude Bellingham during Euro 2024. In a recent interview with the Independent, the 30-year-old forward highlighted the importance of building a connection with the midfielder and said:

"From a captain's point of view, I am always talking to all of the players and with Jude, we are always talking about how we can improve. We watched clips of the Denmark game to see how we can play better. We would have liked to have played better and had more of a connection."
"But I still feel like the movements are there. We're moving really well and I thought it was a lot better than the first two games. The relationship is still fairly new. Even though we have played a bit together, there's still things we can both do better. We're hoping that as the tournament goes on we grow more and more. From Jude's point of view, he just needs to keep doing what he's doing," added the Bayern Munich star.

Harry Kane was named the captain of the England national team in 2018. He is their all-time top scorer with 65 goals and 19 assists in 95 games.
