European Giants plot surprise move for Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland - Reports
Barcelona are reportedly aiming to sign Manchester City forward Erling Haaland and Arsenal defender William Saliba in the next three years. The Camp Nou outfit's financial struggles have restricted them from completing big deals in the transfer window in recent years.
As per The Athletic, Barcelona are interested in signing Nico Williams this summer. However, due to budget issues, they can't sign the Spanish attacker if they don't sell a big star before the end of the month.
However, Barcelona think their new lucrative deal with Nike will help them secure financial stability and attract new stars. As per the aforementioned report, the Bluagrana aims to sign Erling Haaland and William Saliba in the next three years.
However, there would be no immediate effect of the Nike deal. Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes the deal will help the side pull in more than €150 million every season. Nevertheless, Erling Haaland remains Bluagrana's main ambition, as they see the Norwegian forward as Lionel Messi's replacement.
Additionally, the 23-year-old has denied committing his long-term future to the Etihad outfit. Haaland made 45 appearances for Manchester City last season, bagging 38 goals and six assists across all competitions.
Apart from Haaland, French defender Saliba is also on Barcelona's transfer radar. However, it's unlikely that the 23-year-old will leave Arsenal until the Gunners have Mikel Arteta as their manager.
Barcelona star wants to join Manchester City this summer - Reports
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong reportedly wants to join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the upcoming summer transfer window, as per Football365.
Erik ten Hag's Manchester United have been interested in signing the Dutch midfielder for the last two years. Apart from de Jong, the Red Devils have also tried plotting moves to sign Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. However, United have failed to materialize any of their offers.
As per Football365 in Spain, Manchester City have a better chance of signing the defensive midfielder than their arch-rivals. Last summer, Manchester City completed the signing of Josko Gvardiol, Matheus Nunes, Jeremy Doku, and Mateo Kovacic.
Pep Guardiola is still looking to strengthen his team's midfield, and Frenkie de Jong seems like the perfect choice for the purpose. Last season, the Dutchman made 30 appearances for Bluagrana, scoring two goals. However, he also missed more than 20 games due to an ankle injury and fever.
