Ex-Liverpool ace Sadio Mane forced to put honeymoon with teenage wife Aisha on hold due to her parents' strict demands after marriage
Liverpool legend Sadio Mane and his 18-year-old wife Aisha Tamba have been forced to put their honeymoon on hold. This is because Aisha's parents want her to complete her final school exams first.
The 31-year-old football star got married in a private ceremony on January 9 in Dakar, Senegal. Mane reportedly wanted to have his honeymoon after the AFCON but it appears as if the couple will have to put their plans on hold for the time being.
Sadio Mane's best friend, Moussa Ndiaye described the couple's plans as he told MailOnline (via GOAL):
"Sadio was hoping to have a honeymoon at some point either after the final, if Senegal get there or before, if they are eliminated. But Aisha's family want her to remain focused on her education. She has very important exams coming up and they don't want this marriage getting in the way."
He added:
"Even though she is now married to Sadio, who is the most famous man in Senegal, she is still a schoolgirl and needs to complete her studies."
Mane is currently in the Ivory Coast, captaining Senegal for the upcoming AFCON. He will be aiming to help his country retain their title after they won the prestigious competition two years ago, while he still played for Liverpool.
Liverpool icon Sadio Mane has flourished alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr this season
Former Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane has enjoyed a successful 2023-24 campaign alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
The Senegal skipper established himself as one of the best wingers in the world at Liverpool, posting 120 goals and 48 assists in 269 appearances across all competitions. Over the course of six seasons, he helped the Reds win seven trophies, including the Premier League title and UEFA Champions League.
Mane joined Bayern Munich last season, however, the move didn't end up working for either party. Hence, he joined Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr over the summer, in an attempt to rejuvenate his career.
The Liverpool legend has impressed so far this season, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. He has helped Al-Nassr get to the second spot in the Saudi Pro League table with 46 points from 19 games, seven points behind leaders Al-Hilal.
Sadio Mane will next be back in action for Al-Nassr against Al-Feiha in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Round of 16 on February 14.
