Ex-Manchester United striker Anthony Martial in talks over surprise transfer to leave Europe: Fabrizio Romano
Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has attracted interest from Brazilian giants Flamengo, who have made contact with the Frenchman following a serious injury to their star forward Pedro.
The 28-year-old, who spent nine years at Old Trafford, endured an injury-plagued final season, managing only 19 appearances. According to Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo, now needing a striker to fill the void left by Pedro’s ACL injury, sees Martial as a potential replacement.
However, they are not alone in their pursuit, and the former Manchester United forward is considering several options for his future. There's another lucrative offer on the table with Greek Super League club AEK Athens, which would be willing to make Martial the highest-paid player in the club’s history, as per Sport24 (via The Sun).
Despite the setbacks, Martial still has several playing years ahead and has shown flashes of his immense talent. His best spell at United came during the 2019-20 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, where he netted 23 goals. With 90 goals in 317 appearances for the club, Martial could make a significant impact wherever he lands next.
At 28, the Frenchman now faces a critical decision as he looks to reignite his career and prove he still can perform at the highest level.
Manchester United complete signing of former Arsenal goalkeeper - Reports
According to The Mirror (via Caught Offside), Manchester United have completed the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk, who was released by Arsenal earlier this summer. The Polish shot-stopper will initially join United’s under-21 squad, with ambitions to eventually break into the first team.
Graczyk, a product of Arsenal’s academy, has represented the Gunners at various youth levels, including the U18s and U21s, but did not make a first-team appearance.
His departure from Arsenal is part of a larger shake-up in the Gunners' goalkeeper department. Several young goalkeepers have left the club this summer, including Ovie Ejeheri, who moved to Midtjylland, Arthur Okonkwo, who transferred to Wrexham, and Noah Cooper, who joined Stoke City. Others, such as James Hillson and Owen Asemota, signed with Southend and Aston Villa, respectively.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have continued to struggle on the pitch, despite spending heavily in the summer transfer window. After scraping a 1-0 win against Fulham thanks to a late goal from new signing Joshua Zirkzee, they suffered back-to-back defeats: a 2-1 loss to Brighton and a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford.
