Ex-Manchester United talent Omari Forson sends message to Ten Hag after leaving Old Trafford
Former Manchester United forward Omari Forson has sent an emotional message to club manager Erik ten Hag after his exit from the club was confirmed. The young forward has penned a contract with Italian outfit AC Monza after reaching the end of his contract with the Red Devils.
Teenage Englishman Forson joined the Red Devils as a 14-year-old in 2019, having previously spent time at the academies of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. The 19-year-old remained in the youth system, signing a first professional contract in 2021.
Erik ten Hag named Omari Forson in his squad for pre-season ahead of the 2023-24 season, and he featured in the 2-0 win over Leeds United. The youngster then featured against Borussia Dortmund, also in pre-season, as he impressed the manager and earned a place on the fringes of the squad.
Forson made his professional debut in the FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic before making six more appearances for the side, including four in the Premier League. The teenager was offered a new deal by the club and included on the retained list but he declined the offer to remain at Manchester United.
After his transfer was confirmed, Forson took to Instagram to express his appreciation to the manager, who handed him his professional debut. He posted a picture of the pair of them and captioned it with this message:
"Appreciate all the opportunities you gave me ❤️ Gonna show the world what you saw in me a long time ago."
Forson made an assist in his time with the senior team, for the winner in Manchester United's comeback 4-3 win over Wolves. He featured for ten Hag's side in games against Arsenal and Manchester City.
The forward has signed a deal until 2028 with Serie A side Monza, who finished 12th in the Italian top flight last season. The youngster will officially complete his switch on July 1st when the new season begins.
Erik ten Hag to remain as Manchester United manager
Erik ten Hag will continue in his role as Manchester United manager following the conclusion of an internal review by the club. The Red Devils conducted a review at the end of the 2023-24 season to determine whether or not to continue with the manager.
Ten Hag joined the Red Devils from Ajax in 2022 and has won a title in each of his first two seasons at the club (Carabao Cup in 2022-23 and FA Cup in 2023-24). The Dutch manager led his side to finish eighth in the Premier League in 2023-24, but managed to salvage the season with a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
The Red Devils were linked with a number of managers, including Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, and Graham Potter, during the review. The club has decided to stick with ten Hag, who will now enter into contract talks shortly.
