Fabrizio Romano makes claim about Marcel Sabitzer's future at Manchester United
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Marcel Sabitzer is pushing to join Manchester United permanently once his loan expires at the end of the season.
The Bayern Munich man arrived at Old Trafford in January after Christian Eriksen picked up a long-term injury. Sabitzer, 29, has been handed a more prominent role under Erik ten Hag than that of what he was given at the Allianz Arena. He has made 18 appearances across competitions, scoring three goals and contributing one assist.
However, Sabitzer is set to return to Bayern as it stands, with the Red Devils not possessing a buy option in the loan deal. Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that the Austrian is pushing to remain with Ten Hag's side:
“I’m sure that he wants to stay at Manchester United, so Sabitzer is just waiting for Man United to make a decision. He would love to stay; he would love to continue. He’s very happy with the club, with the team-mates, with the manager.”
The Austrian midfielder has gone on record to state his intent on continuing with Manchester United. He told BILD just last month:
"I have found my place here. I know the Premier League now and I can say: There is nothing better, more intense and tougher. Every game is a fight, everything goes faster. This is the best league in the world. Once you've played here, you know: It's incomparable here."
Sabitzer has two years left on his contract with the Bavarians but may be available on a cut-price deal. He has been unable to displace Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in Bayern's lineup since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021. Der FCB then signed Ajax's Ryan Gravenberch last summer to only further jeopardize Sabitzer's playing time.
The midfielder will miss the rest of Manchester United's season as he has picked up a knee injury. It remains to be seen if he will be playing in the Red Devils' colors next term.
Manchester United legend Andy Cole lauds Erik ten Hag for his debut season
Manchester United icon Andy Cole has praised Ten Hag for his work in his debut season at the club. The Dutch tactician has already ended the Red Devils' six-year wait for a trophy by winning the Carabao Cup in February.
Ten Hag has propelled the Old Trafford outfit back into the top four after a disastrous 2021-22 campaign saw them miss out. They currently sit fourth, a point above fifth-placed Liverpool with three games remaining and a game in hand. The Red Devils are also in the FA Cup final and will face cross-city rivals Manchester City on June 3.
Cole has been impressed with Ten Hag's start to life in the Old Trafford dugout. He said (via Stretty News):
“I think he has done extremely well. He has won a cup in his first season and finds himself in with a chance of winning the FA Cup as well. Not to forget how we’re fighting to finish in the top four, which was the most important thing at the start of the season."
Ten Hag's first season in charge of the 13-time Premier League champions hasn't been without its issues. He has had to deal with the Cristiano Ronaldo circus and the club being put up for sale. But the Dutch tactician has delivered and has transformed Manchester United.
